Position Overview:
WisCorps crews complete high priority conservation projects across Wisconsin and the Upper
Midwest. The WisCorps Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore crew will work directly with the
National Park Service on Oak Savanna restoration projects at the Indiana Dunes National
Lakeshore in Porter, Indiana. Position will begin in La Crosse, WI on March 9th with a 1 week
training/orientation prior to traveling to Indiana to begin the project.
Oak Savanna restoration work will include brush cutting, tree thinning (including tree girdling
and/or tree felling), and site preparation. Site preparation work will include herbicide
applications and the use of tools and operating equipment such as chainsaws and brush cutters
to remove undesirable plants. This position requires application of herbicides for vegetation
control, strenuous repetitive manual labor, and working primarily outdoors under a variety of
weather conditions.

communities and the environment by engaging youth and young adults in direct conservation
projects on public lands across the state of Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest.

- Abide by all WisCorps policies and procedures
Corps Member Qualifications
- 18-25 years old
- Experience with operating power equipment (chainsaw, brushsaw, etc.), a plus
- Experience with plant identification or a degree in biology related field, a plus
- Highly self-motivated, hardworking, confident, autonomous
- Relishes rugged working conditions
- Ready to undergo a criminal background check
