JOB TITLE: Campground Operations Attendant
STATUS: Full-time/ Seasonal
LOCATION: Thomas Woods, Marengo, IL
SALARY: $10.00 per hour
JOB OVERVIEW:
The McHenry County Conservation District is seeking a Campground Operations Attendant for the 2015 season to
provide onsite customer service to campground site users, maintain the site, and to encourage compliance with
park rules and regulations. On site housing is available if needed. The campground is open from May 1st-October
31st. The work schedule is Wednesday-Saturday as well as holidays.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Campground Operations Attendant reports directly to the area Ranger. Responsibilities of this job include, but
not limited to:
 Become knowledgeable of the site and other District facilities and activities.
 Greet visitors, answer questions, and pass out District information in a courteous manner.
 Post permits at campground sites, register walk-up campers, and check reservations including seeing if the
person still needs to pay and recording in the system the person has paid.
 Collect and maintain fees/ receipts for campsites and firewood sales.
 Perform basic maintenance tasks including cleaning restrooms daily and maintaining a clean site such as
picking up litter.
 Be available during a high usage period such as holidays, Friday afternoons/evenings, and all day Saturday
including the evening to site users and other times as requested by District staff.
 Inform the Ranger of any major maintenance needed on the site.
 Open and close gates at Marengo Ridge when the situation warrants it.
 Notify Police of potential issues and provide emergency assistance (i.e. call 911, first aid, etc.) when
needed.
 Maintains an awareness of worker safety guidelines and standards and applies these in performing daily
activities and tasks.
 Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications for this position are:
 Must be at least 21 years of age.
 Ability to work the season (5/1-10/31).
 Ability to be courteous and positively interact with the public.
 Possess basic computer skills.
 Ability to work independently and manage own time.
 Some experience in cash management preferred.
 Possess a valid, current driver's license with the ability to drive a motorized vehicle to perform various job
related functions.
 Driving a district vehicle is a requirement to perform the job responsibilities. Therefore, must be able to
pass a work related pre-employment drug screening.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regular/normal work situations may call for physically demanding activities relating to heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), stooping,
bending, crawling, crouching, climbing, standing, or walking a distance. Requires a sighted individual to safely and visually
be able to use equipment and inspect sites. This work also requires an individual with normal hearing (corrected to within
a normal audible range) for interacting with employees and for significant contact with the public Majority of the work is
performed outside where a person may experience a variety of weather conditions. Possible work hazards include use of
power equipment and contact with nature (i.e. bees, insects/spiders, etc.).
