The Region 6 Rappel Program anticipates filling multiple GS-0462-04/05 Permanent Seasonal
Senior Rappeller positions for the 2015 fire season to possibly include the following duty stations:
 Blue Mt. Rappellers (La Grande, OR.)
 Central Oregon Rappellers (Prineville, OR.)
 Malheur Rappel Crew (John Day, OR)
 Siskiyou Rappel Crew (Grants Pass, OR.)
 Sled Springs Rappel Crew (Enterprise, OR.)
 Wenatchee Valley Rappellers (East Wenatchee, WA)
This notification is being circulated to inform prospective applicants of these upcoming
opportunities and inform interested candidates about the application process and deadline.
Applications must be submitted no later than February 3rd.
About the Position:
The Pacific Northwest Rappel Program is looking to hire professional, experienced, motivated and
physically fit candidates to serve as Senior Firefighters on a Helicopter Rappel Crew. There will be
a guaranteed minimum tour of 13 pay periods. We desire individuals who can work well
independently and in a team environment. The job of an aerial delivered firefighter is a
demanding and challenging position. The Region 6 Rappel Program has a reputation of being
professional, hardworking and dedicated to providing a product that we can be proud of. We

LOCATION: Enterprise, Oregon www.wallowavalley.com is located in one of the most scenic spots in
Eastern Oregon and has an elevation of approximately 3,500 feet. Enterprise is located on Highway 82,
about a one hour drive from LaGrande, Oregon, just off Interstate 84, and two hours from Pendleton,
Oregon to the west and two hours from Lewiston, Idaho to the north on Highway 3. The population of
Enterprise is approximately 2,000. Nearby are several smaller communities of Joseph, Lostine and
Wallowa. The Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, Eagle Cap Ranger District and Wallowa Valley
Ranger District are located in Enterprise, which is situated in the mountains of Northeastern Oregon.
Both the Blue Mountain and Wallowa Mountain chains are located in the county. The Wallowa
Mountains are often referred to as the "Little Alps of Oregon".
ABOUT THE FOREST: The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest is 2,521,280 acres ranging from 875 to
9,845 feet above sea level. Plant life varies from desert-like countryside of Hells Canyon to the alpine
vegetation of the Eagle Cap Wilderness and Seven Devils Mountains. Generally, winters are cold and
snowy, spring and fall are mild, and summers are hot and dry. There are seven Ranger Districts with
additional offices in Clarkston, Washington and Riggins, Idaho.
The Forest lands include Eagle Cap Wilderness, Hells Canyon Wilderness, Monument Rock Wilderness,
North Fork John Day Wilderness, and Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. For additional information

HOUSING: House and apartment rentals range from $500 per month and up, and are in short supply.
Utility rates tend to be low. Prices for three to four bedroom homes range from $100,000 to $200,000

THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES: Enterprise is the county seat of Wallowa County in the northeast corner of
Oregon. It is a rural community with population of about 2000 and is a full service community with a
new hospital, K-12 School, 5 motels, and 9 churches. Elevation is 3500', annual precipitation is about
18", and snow is common from November through March though accumulations are rarely greater than
1 foot.
MEDICAL: Enterprise is a full service community, providing a brand new hospital with several local
physicians and specialists and a 32 bed nursing home facility.
