ORIENTATION TO RESTORATION ECOLOGY FIELDWORK IN SOUTH-CENTRAL WISCONSIN
DATES
Full-time commitment (40 hours per week) for 12 weeks, from May 18 – August 7, 2015
OVERVIEW
This internship program in restoration ecology is administered by Madison Audubon Society in cooperation with the
University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum, the Friends of the Lakeshore Nature Preserve, the Friends of Pheasant
Branch, and the Natural Heritage Land Trust. Interns work in small groups at sites within 30 miles of Madison.
Two teams will be hired for the summer of 2015: the Prairie Partners team will work at four sites in Dane and
Columbia counties (Pheasant Branch Conservancy, UW-Madison’s Lakeshore Nature Preserve, Goose Pond
Sanctuary, and Westport Drumlin Prairie/Empire Prairies State Natural Area); the Faville Grove team will work at
Faville Grove Sanctuary, Faville Prairie and Snapper Prairie State Natural Areas in Jefferson County. While at each
site, interns will be supervised by the managers of that site. This highly successful program provides an outstanding
opportunity for students interested in restoration ecology to learn while they work. Applicants will be considered for
both teams unless otherwise requested.
COMPENSATION
This is a PAID INTERNSHIP at a rate of $11/hour
Students may arrange academic credit through their home institution
