Position: Program Director
Location: Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary
The Friends of Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary, Inc. announces the opening of the Program Director position at
the Hunt Hill Nature Center and Audubon Sanctuary in Sarona, Wisconsin.
Responsibilities:
Plan, promote, contract and schedule all programs and rentals at Hunt Hill (including summer camp
programs, visiting groups, school programs, contracted camps, facility rentals and public programs)
Achieve program growth: program revenue, profitability and attendance
Hire, train, manage & schedule educators, guest speakers, cooks
Work collaboratively with area organizations
Editor of all publications of FOHHAS (Program Guide, promo flyers, press releases, website)
Fill in effective day-to-day operation of the camp office in absence of other office staff
Serve as a cooperating camp staff team member to help fill in, as needed, for various jobs throughout
the camp (may include cleaning, kitchen work, lifting and moving furniture, gardening, trail work)
Manage volunteers for FOHHAS (communicate w/, recruit, record hours, and recognize)
Prepare proposals for grant writing to support programs, staff and facilities
Serve on operating committees of the Board as requested
Evaluate, maintain, organize and safeguard program supplies
Complete other jobs as assigned by the Executive Director
Requirements:
1. Education: minimum of Bachelor’s degree with environmental, science-related or educational
background, summer camp experience a plus
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
3. Supervisory experience
4. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
5. Experience teaching /working with youth
6. Lifeguard and First Responder certification or willingness to become certified
Benefits:
1. Equivalent of full-time nine months per year, salaried position of $21,000

Hunt Hill Program Director (Nine Month) Job Description- Expanded
•
Equivalent of full time nine months per year, salaried position; at-will employment by the Friends
of Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary, Inc., a 501 – (c)(3) non-profit corporation. It is estimated that this
job is 60% administrative management and 40% program related
•
Salary of $21,000 per nine months equivalent per year with benefits including: free housing
options at camp (Estimated value of $9000), single coverage major medical health insurance
reimbursement, ten paid holiday days, paid vacation days and SIMPLE retirement plan (matching
up to 3% of annual pay)
•
*Housing: year-round on-site living. Seasonal (June – August) on-site living is required - housing is
provided in the Farmhouse (second floor apartment) at no charge and it includes heat, electricity,
internet, garbage pick-up. Satellite TV service not provided.

Report directly to the Executive Director

Assist the Executive Director with successful fulfillment of the mission of FOHHAS
•
Key responsibilities:

guest speakers
Work collaboratively with area organizations (LLPA, WCLRA, service clubs, other nonprofits,
educational institutions, etc.)
Editor of all publications of FOHHAS (annual Program Guide, program promo flyers, press releases,
website)
Fill in effective day-to-day operation of the camp office in absence of Executive Director
and Office Manager
Serve as a cooperating camp staff team member to help fill in, as needed, for various jobs
throughout the camp (might include cleaning, bulk mailings, kitchen work, lifting and moving furniture,
gardening, trail work, etc.)
Manage volunteers for FOHHAS (communicate w/, recruit, record hours, and recognize)
Prepare proposals for grant writing to support programs, staff and facilities
Serve on operating committees of the Board as requested
Evaluate, maintain, organize and safeguard program supplies
Maintain historical records of FOHHAS and Hunt Hill
Complete other jobs as assigned by the Executive Director

Hunt Hill Program Director Qualifications and Preferred Characteristics:

Qualifications:
• Education - minimum of Bachelors’ degree with environmental, science-related, or educational
background, summer camp experience a plus

(Program Guide, news releases, advertising, business and thank you letters, lesson plans, grants, email communications,
public presentations, board meetings, website); with immediate follow-up responses to all communications

Computer skills – documents, spreadsheets, publishing software programs, PowerPoint
•
Able to lead and participate in outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing,
survival programs, etc.

Ability to work well with people of all ages
