Deciding what to plant where? Companion planting helps guide gardeners on which vegetables and flowers support or inhibit the growth of other plants and/or which pests they deter. Central Rivers Farmshed is offering a workshop on the fundamentals of Companion Planting on Thursday, May 14th, 2015 from 6:30 - 8:30pm in Stevens Point. Instructors Jen Zach and Sue Anderson will teach the fundamentals of Companion Planting; providing a hands-on, thorough overview of maximizing your garden. With so many types of fruits and vegetables to choose from, being informed about companion planting is almost a necessity for gardeners! Workshop participants will learn about: • Garden planning • Which plants are suitable of companionship • How to: o Increase yields o Decrease pest infestations o Improve crop flavor (in some cases) This workshop is $15 per person or $12 for Farmshed Members and includes educational handouts and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Participants will work with highly-experienced gardeners Jen Zach and Sue Anderson in Jen’s garden. Advanced registration is required and space is limited, the registration deadline is May 11th.
