The assistantship is funded by a National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council grant to address the status of the urban forestry profession, including public and professional perceptions and educational and credentialing needs. The candidate will conduct research to assess the status of the profession at a national level and in particular perceptions of practicing urban foresters and their colleagues in associated professions concerning accredited university curricula, professional certifications, educational resources, and professional society memberships and services. An M.S. in a field relevant to the Ph.D. project such as natural resource education, social sciences, policy, human resources, or workforce development is desired. Strong social science research skills are preferred. Excellent quantitative skills and solid experience in survey data acquisition and analysis is highly desirable.
