DESCRIPTION:

 Utility Arborists are responsible for inspecting utility lines and corridors for adherence to state
or federally regulated specifications to ensure system reliability.
 Arborists document all work with the highest level s of accountability.
 Arborists will be responsible for communicating with local residents, municipalities, contractors,
government agencies, and similar.
 Participation in Storm Restoration includes working nights, weekends, and holidays assessing,
prioritizing, and managing the tree work required to restore power to the public.
 Hand held portable computers may be used to collect information with proprietary GIS
software.
 Arborist may be responsible for work planning and dispatching tree crew contractors.
 Quality, Production, and Leadership are rewarded and fast-track positions are available for

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Two or Four year degree REQUIRED in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related
discipline
 ISA Certified Arborist, or ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
 1 – 2 Years Utility Forestry Experience or similar (i.e. traditional, residential, commercial,
municipal, state, federal forestry, etc.).
 Proficient working knowledge of computers and GIS Systems. Preferred programs include, but
are not limited to Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint, ARC GIS, or
similar.
 Current Driver’s License and Driving Record in good standing.
 Proficiency with local Tree Identification and Tree Physiology.
 Quality Teamwork and Communication skills.
 Ability to work, drive, and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather when required.
 Proven success working independently, illustrating time management and organizational skills.
 Ability to successfully complete Continuing Education extension courses and obtain other
industry specific licenses.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 ISA Certified Arborist








ISA Utility Specialist
Illinois Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License
ARCGIS proficiency
Utility Forestry Experience
Tree Climbing and Groundwork Experience
Management Experience
Telecommunications Service Experience
Ability to read and follow industry standard maps and use GPS/GIS database systems a plus.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
 Full time regular 40 hour and temporary positions available, unscheduled overtime may be
required at times.
 Employees are on storm on-call teams one week primary duty and one week backup duty out of
every 8 weeks.
 Out of State Temporary Help are eligible for Per Diem Stipend.
 Compensation based on qualifications and experience.

required.
