Forester/Log Buyer

This is a Full-Time, Exempt position.

Background: Northwest Hardwoods is the premier Hardwood Lumber producer in the industry
serving the furniture, cabinet, molding and millwork segments worldwide. We operate manufacturing
operations throughout the United States.
Key Functions: Responsibile for coordination, planning and management of timber and log
procurement supplying Lewiston sawmill. Personal, team and contractor safety compliance
required. Supply sawmill with quality logs, at or below planned costs, maintain targeted
inventories, manage and promote positive supplier relationships, and provide technical
assistance to landowners (i.e. timber cruising/appraisals and marking). Comply with legal and
applicable agency requirements. Interface with landowners, contractors, government
representatives and sawmill personnel to ensure accurate and continuous supply.
Requirements:
 Forestry or Associate Forestry degree with four years of practical forestry log buying
experience.
 Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office with working knowledge of GIS
 Excellent analytical skills
 Ability to work safely.
 Strong skills in problem solving, ability to work through conflict.
 Excellent interpersonal skills, strong communication skills – written and oral.
 Ability to develop peer-to-peer relationships.
