Troy Kids’ Garden Assistant Manager Job Description Community GroundWorks is seeking an experienced educator and grower to assist in the management of the Troy Kids' Garden. Schedule Spring: Summer: Fall: April 11 - June 10: Mon/Wed 11:30 - 5:30 (12 hours per week) June 13 -August 12: Mon - Fri 8:00 - 2:00 (30 hours per week) August 15 - Nov 11: Mon/Wed 11:30 - 5:30 (12 hours per week) Compensation $12/hour Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Helps to develop and manage a productive educational garden. Leads youth and garden staff in growing, harvesting, and preparing produce. Manages day-to-day aspects of educational program and garden: develops educational activities for youth and garden staff, and assists in program documentation and evaluation. Builds relationships and coordinates with schools and community organizations to recruit youth program participants. Trains and supervises interns and volunteers. Other duties as assigned. Desired Qualifications: At least two years of experience facilitating outdoor youth programs. At least two years experience gardening or farming using sustainable and/or organic practices. Experience managing interns and volunteers. Experience building relationships and working with other organizations effectively. Ability to develop effective work plans, organize details, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision. Highly organized professional, and diplomatic. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and work outside in a variety of weather conditions. College degree in a relevant field.
