North Central Conservancy Trust Job Description – Executive Director Job Title: Executive Director, NCCT Supervisor: President of the Board of Directors, NCCT Job Overview: The Executive Director will work in coordination with the president of NCCT for the successful management of NCCT to protect, in perpetuity, worthy scenic, agricultural, and environmental resources of north central Wisconsin for the benefit of the people and their quality of life. Description of Duties includes: Conservation Leadership, Direction, and Representation Represent NCCT to other land trusts and other conservation organizations. Become familiar with LTA Standards and Practices, and provide guidance to Board and committees on compliance. Participate in Properties Committee meetings. Receive and respond to inquiries about land conservation from landowners. Send letters to those initiating easements to clearly identify expected expenses and contributions. Maintain records of those inquiring about easements and track each through the signing of their easements. Prepare, or oversee preparation of easements and baselines, track progress, and make sure legal requirements are addressed as appropriate. Assist landowners in understanding tax opportunities and obligations. Make arrangements and attend closings of easements. Work with Properties Committee to make sure annual monitoring requirements are completed. Finances Establish and implement annual fund-raising plans and corporate solicitations. Maintain positive relations with donors, including individuals, foundations, and public agencies; acknowledge donations in a timely fashion and insure that donations are used as the donor intends. Prepare grant applications and reports, or supervise progress of same. Develop and maintain budgets, financial and record-keeping systems, including: o meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and appropriate reports. o payment of bills and filing and/or renewal of documents. Administration Monitor and respond appropriately to all communications Maintain appropriate mailing lists. Provide guidance and assist Board, President, Treasurer, and committees in: o recruitment and supervision of volunteers. o recruitment and training of new board members. o development of Annual Report and organization of Annual Meeting. o maintaining and updating Bylaws and legal records. Public Relations Coordinate public events with PR committee. Represent NCCT at various events, as is appropriate, or as delegated to do so by President. Promote awareness of and support for NCCT’s mission. Initiate and oversee news releases in cooperation with President and PR Committee. Oversee preparation of biannual newsletters in cooperation with Public Relations Committee. Maintain web presence for NCCT, including updating organizational website and social media presence. In the conduct of all these duties, maintain positive relationships and open communications with the Board, as well as appropriate confidentially. Required Qualifications: Commitment to the protection of natural resources in Central Wisconsin. Demonstrated office management experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Experience with accounting and organizational record keeping, including the ability to work with or learn QuickBooks. Relevant college degree (BS/BA) or related work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated management experience. Experience working in a land trust organization or related experience. Experience with and / or ability to learn QuickBooks accounting software, WordPress website builder, and ArcGIS mapping software. Relevant graduate degree (MS/MA/MBA)
