University Retention Coordinator
(H-H Title: Student Services Coordinator)
This position is part of a Title III “Strengthening Institutions” grant to improve student retention
and graduation rates. The Retention Coordinator will be responsible for managing, developing,
implementing and assessing a comprehensive retention action plan for the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point, as well as co-coordinating Title III program activities.
Campus-wide Retention
• Develop an annual retention plan using resources from across the University’s Colleges
and Divisions to create an actionable set of retention measures.
• Track in real time, activities across the campus related to the overall retention strategies
and inform campus leadership regarding needed changes to mitigate any retention
declines.
• Using a managerial matrix, manage the retention functions of the University and evaluate
the University’s wide array of retention programs to ensure student success and make
recommendations for continuous improvements.
• Assess the prior year’s retention annually utilizing a variety of data inputs from across the
University.
• Develop measurable retention strategies and action plans for key student cohorts across
campus.
• Identify priorities, strategic goals, and action plans to enhance student progress to degree
completion.
• Identify campus policies and procedures that may lead to or contribute to attrition and
propose changes.
• Collect, analyze, and report student persistence/learning/satisfaction data and compare it
to internal benchmarks and national/peer institution data.
Title III Coordination
• Assess the prior year’s Title III program activities and report to the Principal Investigator
progress toward Title III goals.
• Recommend to the Principal Investigator changes needed in the Title III program
activities to reach program goals.
• Respond to all Department of Education requests and reports including annual
performance review.
Service Delivery
• Coordinate the Conditional Admissions program.
o Communicate with potential conditional admits.
o Ensure that the student cohort members complete the assigned retention activities
within their conditional admission agreement.
o Utilize MAP-Works to track the student cohort for potential retention risks.
o Determine student status from conditional admission to full time student.
o Assess/Track/Report student cohort success through to graduation.

Manage Project Win-Win associate degree review and completion efforts.
Develop re-recruitment efforts for withdrawn and stop out students.
Work with the Enrollment Specialists and the various student support services, develop
action plans for re-admitted students who were previously suspended for poor academic
performance.
Administration
• Meet regularly with the Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management and Student Affairs
leadership teams to discuss plan initiatives and collaborative efforts necessary to ensure
plan success.
• Bring disparate groups together to solve campus issues that affect student persistence.
• Serve as a liaison to faculty and staff in the development/improvement of programs that
enhance student success.
• Develop, maintain and communicate a complete list of support services for faculty and
staff to reference when needing retention assistance.
