BS/MS Thesis Proposal Contract
This agreement is for the purpose of setting out the understanding of the BS/MS student and the BS/MS
Master’s Thesis Advisor concerning a proposed Master’s Thesis. This signed BS/MS Master’s Thesis
Proposal Contract is necessary in order for a BS/MS student to count completion of a master’s thesis as a
substitute for completion senior design. The student and Master’s Thesis Advisor should be aware that
this agreement is subject to the approval ECE Associate Department Heads for Graduate and
Undergraduate Studies. Once all approvals are secured the student will be able to enroll in the ECEX 898
master’s thesis course by completing the Graduate Independent Research & Thesis Contract prior to each
planned term of enrollment. If the proposal contract is not submitted or accepted, the BS/MS student will
be required to complete Senior Design I, II, III (ECE 491, 492, 493).
Before submitting this BS/MS Thesis Proposal Contract, students must have been admitted by the ECE
Department into the accelerated BS/MS program with a BS/MS plan of study which includes a Master’s
Thesis. This BS/MS Thesis proposal contract must be signed and submitted to the ECE Main Office no
later than the start of the first week of Fall term of the student’s senior year.
This master’s thesis proposal contract must include:
I.
a summary of the design components
II.
a summary of the realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political,
ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
