Reports to: La Crosse Promise Director and Future Center Advisors
Purpose:
To assist in the coordination of the La Crosse Promise Future Centers
college planning programs and services and advise students on postsecondary education opportunities to achieve their higher education goals.
Responsibilities May Include:

Assist Future Center advisors in advising students on post-secondary education
planning, including, but not limited to, program/degree options, admission
requirements, college application process, financial aid/FAFSA
Will likely serve one day per week as the Aquinas High School Future Center
Advisors
Coordinate and promote post-secondary education workshops for students (and
occasionally their parents) including room and hospitality arrangements,
transportation needs and related reservations, and follow-up.
Follow up on questions students have after attending events or participating in
Future Center programs/services, utilizing Future Center advisors as appropriate
Raise student and parent awareness of and application for scholarship
opportunities
Monitor and track student use of Future Center programs/services
Work with staff to implement evaluation tools to document, quantify, and analyze
Future Center program/service impact (including analysis of National Student
Clearinghouse data)
Maintain effective working relationships and ongoing collaborations with the
appropriate college admission offices
Assist with documentation for grant reporting
Coordinate social networking and marketing efforts with the administrative
assistant and Future Center advisors
Chaperone and serve as a role model to students during off-site events
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher
Strong preference for individuals enrolled in UW-La Crosse SSA program
One semester of experience working in or partnering with an educational
organization
Basic knowledge of student financial aid, and/or post-secondary education
entrance processes

Experience working with youth and a passion for helping students succeed
Strong oral communication and writing skills; ability to communicate with
sensitivity and work with diverse populations; comfort with public speaking
Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, accurate, and timely with assigned
tasks
Ability to operate in a professional manner including ethical behavior, and strict
confidentiality with student/family information
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently as well as to work collaboratively with others
Ability to facilitate effective collaboration and resolve conflict
Demonstrate sensitivity to diversity
Effectively use a variety of technology tools including database, various software
programs, internet tools, and communication tools
Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate students and parent needs; may require
evening or weekend hours
A sense of humor, tolerance for change, and a demonstrated ability to create a
positive culture and sense of empowerment for students/families
Time Commitment:
10 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
(time/number of hours may be adjusted to include evening or
weekends as needed to serve program/service needs)
This is an unpaid position without benefits.
