Contest winners will be invited to the Youth Motivation Task Force Student Award Luncheon to
be held on April 8, 2014. The first place winner will be required to read his/her essay during the
ceremony.
Rules and Regulations
Only students registered with the Office of Career Development Services are eligible.
Contestants are to write an original essay on the designated topic, accompanied by a list of the
sources consulted in researching the essay and completed application form.
ESSAY TOPIC:
YMTF: Flexibility and Mobility - Keys to Career Success
All submissions must be a minimum of three but no more than five pages in length
(excluding the list of sources).
Each essay must reflect the contestant’s own research, writing and original thinking.
Only one (1) essay may be submitted per contestant.
The application form (copy form as needed), original work and list of sources must be submitted
to the Office of Career Development Services by the deadline.
Paper size must be 81/2- by 11-inch with one-inch margins on all sides.
Entries must be typed, double-spaced (including the list of works cited), in 12-point Times New
Roman or an equivalent font.
Pages must be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript (including the first page) in
the upper right-hand corner of each page. Type your last name before the page number. This
feature makes the appearance and consistency of the page numbering a great convenience.
Staple each copy of the essay with a copy of the application form in the front on the upper left
hand corner.
ALL ESSAYS MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM WEDNESDAY,
APRIL 2, 2014. (FAXES AND EMAILS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.)
Submissions will be judged based on comprehension, organization, conclusion, creativity and
writing skills.
Entries will not be returned. All winning submissions will become the property of the Office of
Career Development Services.
Winners will be notified by April 6, 2014.
All decisions by the judges are final.
