New Product: Visionary™ HD/SD Overlay System
Delivers EAS messages, graphics capabilities
Indianapolis, Indiana (Thursday, March 27, 2008):
Trilithic proudly introduces a new digital component for
integrated EAS messaging systems that enables
broadcasters to deliver emergency alert messages,
graphics and logos for digital broadcasts.
The new Visionary™ HD/SD Overlay System works with Trilithic’s EASyCAST™ Encoder/Decoder to
provide EAS messaging and logos for HD-SDI and SD-SDI broadcast streams (1080i, 720p and 480i)
including embedded audio and 6 channels of AES-EBU audio.
A standalone unit, the Visionary system accepts EAS alerts from the encoder/decoder and places them
on a broadcast stream via a standard message crawl and EAS audio on the viewer’s set. It also allows
broadcasters to display station logos or other graphics with the EAS message alerts.
The EASyCAST Encoder/Decoder can also process non-EAS alerts and display them, via the Visionary
system as a crawl, static text, images or full page. If a broadcaster needs to display a maintenance
message, even from a remote location, the message can be processed by the EASyCAST unit and
delivered to the broadcast stream by the Visionary system.
The Visionary system connects to the EASyCAST Encoder/Decoder by an Ethernet connection. A single
encoder/decoder can communicate with multiple Visionary units on a network. Each Visionary unit can
be configured for manual or automatic operation. Broadcasters can place a Visionary unit on each
channel of a multicast stream, and only maintain and program a single EASyCAST Encoder/Decoder to
deliver EAS messages. The EASyCAST system offers full implementation of SNMP for improved network
control.

The Visionary system and the EASyCAST Encoder/Decoder can be integrated with Trilithic’s EASy
Compliance Assistant™ automation software, to simplify system maintenance and FCC compliance.
This new integrated system for Broadcasters will be demonstrated at the upcoming NAB show in Las
Vegas in April.
