Applying to Vanguards
The Admissions Office is looking for individuals who are outgoing, friendly, possess excellent communication
skills, and are excited about UWL. Candidates who complete an application will be asked to participate in an
individual interview. After individual interviews are completed, selected applicants will be invited back for a
group interview. Approximately 16 Vanguard positions are available for 2016-2017 Academic Year and 10
Vanguards for the 2016 Summer. Summer Vanguards will provide daily tours at 11 a.m. (Mon-Fri) June –
August.
Individual Interview (15 minutes) Sign up for an individual interview when you return your
application.
Group Interview (50 minutes) Group interviews will consist of two parts. One part involves each
person making a two-minute presentation to the group. Presentations will be limited to two minutes and
must relate to some aspect of UWL. The other part will involve group consensus activities. Applicants
will be evaluated on their ability to communicate and work in a group situation while providing
meaningful input in the discussion. Candidates will also be evaluated on professionalism, enthusiasm,
and their knowledge of the university community.
Who may apply?



Undergraduate students who will be at least sophomore standing by fall semester
Minimum grade point average of 2.50
Have at least two semesters of school left before graduating (not including student teaching or offcampus study/Studying abroad).
What should I know about the application?



Applications must be typed. You may re-create the application if needed.
Applications are due by 4:30 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016
