New Parchment.com
Great news! It’s now even easier for students
and parents to request transcripts on
Parchment.com. Parchment has created a new
look for their website and streamlined the account
creation process, making the ordering process
faster than ever before. Students and parents only
need to go to Parchment.com and create a free
account by answering eight quick questions.
Sending transcripts electronically through
Parchment is fast and convenient for students,
parents and school administrators. Parchment
allows students and parents to request transcripts
online any time, day or night. Once submitted, the
request is automatically sent to the designated
high school administrator who then uploads a
copy of the student transcript. With the click
of a button, the transcript is then sent instantly
to the requested school. This eliminates the
cumbersome printing and mailing process for
high school administrators and provides real-time
tracking to students and parents, showing when
transcript requests have been received, approved,
uploaded and delivered.
If your school is not yet set up to send transcripts
using Parchment, sign up for free today at
exchange.parchment.com/k12-reg/.

Regional Placement Testing Frequently Asked Questions
How should I register for the Regional Testing Program?
Registration for Regional Testing is done online at: www.testing.wisc.edu. Registration begins February 1, 2014.
You will see what sites are open and get immediate confirmation that can be printed. No confirmation letters
will be mailed to you.
How do I pick a date for testing so it doesn’t conflict with school functions such as sporting events, band, choir
or other social events?
Check with your coaches, teachers or other high school staff to be sure you know the dates for these events.
If there is any possibility that you will be involved, please leave those dates open and do not choose them for
testing.
What if I want to change or cancel my test date?
Do not call the Center for Placement Testing or any campuses to change or cancel your test date. To change
or cancel your registration, go to www.testing.wisc.edu. You can use the online registration system to change or
cancel your registration site and/or date. You only need to know your name and the date of birth you entered
when you registered. However, changing can be difficult as popular sites fill quickly; you cannot change to a
site once the registration deadline for that date has passed.
How do I find out the directions to the testing site?
A list of directions to the various testing sites is located at: www.testing.wisc.edu under the heading of the
Regional Placement Testing Program.
What is the schedule on the day of testing?
(All times are approximate)
Seating, orientation and math testing
8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Break
10:00 a.m. - 10:10 a.m.
English testing
10:10 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.
Break
11:50 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Dismissal of those not taking a foreign language test
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
followed by foreign language testing
Important Note: If you are only taking the English and/or a foreign language placement test, please contact
the campus site where you are testing for instructions on a reporting time.
Do I need a government-issued photo ID when I come to the testing site?
Yes, the University of Wisconsin requires students to show a government-issued photo identification document
such as driver’s license, state-issued ID or passport when they arrive to take placement tests. A high school
photo ID is acceptable. Students will not be allowed to test without providing an appropriate photo ID.
How will I receive the results of my tests?
Interpretation of test scores is unique to each UW campus. You will receive your placement test scores and
what they mean when you come to campus for orientation in the summer or fall. Test scores will not be sent
from the Center and cannot be given over the phone.

Winter 2014 Edition
I’ve been accepted to more than one UW System school or I may change my mind about which campus I am
attending. Do I need to take placement tests for each of these campuses?
No. All UW System institutions use the UW Placement Tests and all campuses will receive a copy of your scores.
Therefore, you only need to take the tests once and whichever campus you attend will have your scores,
regardless of the campus you indicated on your answer sheet. The scores are sent to the testing office at each
campus.
Who should I contact if I have any questions regarding placement testing at a specific campus?

Promote College Goal
Wisconsin
For some, the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) can be intimidating,
but there is no need for families to worry. In
Wisconsin, students and their families can
receive free help completing the FAFSA by
attending College Goal Wisconsin on February
22, 23 and 26, 2014.
College Goal Wisconsin will take place in
communities throughout the state. The process
takes a short couple of hours. Students and
their families will hear a brief introduction to
the FAFSA process, followed by step-by-step
instructions and assistance in completing the
FAFSA.
The FAFSA is also available online at fafsa.gov
beginning January 1, 2014.

Scholarships
All campuses offer scholarships for incoming freshmen.
Apply early for admission. Usually students must be admitted before being offered scholarships. Qualifications
vary but primary consideration tends to focus on academic achievement and leadership. Other criteria
may include community service, artistic talent, financial need, extracurricular activities, your major, and
geography (for example, where you graduate from high school).
Do your homework:
• Research scholarships. Start with the websites below. Many campuses link to online scholarship searches that you can use.
• Applying for a scholarship may require any or all of the following: application, official high school transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, essay, letters of recommendation, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (found at fafsa.gov), audition/portfolio, or something else. Note requirements and deadlines.
• Never pay someone to research scholarships for you, even if they “guarantee” results.

Confirmation Process for the Wisconsin Covenant
Among the seniors in Wisconsin’s high schools,
18,123 signed the Wisconsin Covenant Pledge.
The Confirmation Process has begun for
them, and they must submit documentation
demonstrating they fulfilled the pledge, thus
gaining access to eight semesters of grant money
that will help pay for college. This process must be
completed by April 1, 2014:
• If students plan to attend college out of state or to delay college enrollment, please encourage them to complete the confirmation form anyway. If their plans change or they decide to attend a Wisconsin college, they will have access to Wisconsin Covenant grant money up to five years after high school graduation.
• Senior Confirmation forms were mailed to students in mid-December to the address on their pledge sheets, unless they contacted HEAB with a new address. Students can also go to the Wisconsin Covenant website
at wisconsincovenant.wi.gov/ and download the form. They must thoroughly complete it and send any required accompanying information.
•
By now, students should have applied to college and will need to indicate which institution(s) on the confirmation form. If not, students can go apply.wisconsin.edu to apply to any UW System institution.
• A record of service form demonstrating the completion of at least 30 hours of service must accompany the Senior Confirmation form. You will find the form on the Wisconsin Covenant website. If a record of service form is not available, students may submit written letters from the service location contact indicating the number of hours completed. If they served at multiple locations to complete their 30 hours, they will need a letter from each site. Either way, there needs to be proof the 30 hours of service were completed.
•
The FAFSA needs to be completed as part of the confirmation process. Even if students or parents don’t plan to use financial aid to pay for college, information from the FAFSA will help determine the amount of the Wisconsin Covenant grant awards. Students can go to fafsa.gov to complete the form for the 2014-15 academic year beginning January 1, 2014. For assistance with completing the FAFSA, they can attend College Goal Wisconsin February 22, 23 and 26, 2014.
•
Keeping the April 1 deadline in mind, set a timeline for your school considering students will need to gather information and your Wisconsin Covenant school designee will need to sign the Senior Confirmation forms of all seniors who complete them. It is recommended that students be encouraged to make copies of their confirmation form for their records and individually mail it to Higher Educational Aids Board; Wisconsin Covenant; PO Box 7885; Madison, WI 53707-7885.
•
The deadline for the Senior Confirmation form
is April 1, 2014 and envelopes must be postmarked by that date. This is a strict deadline according to state statute and no exceptions will be made.
For any information about the Wisconsin Covenant confirmation process, please call the UW HELP office at 800-442-6459.
In the meantime, we encourage you and
Wisconsin Covenant Students to follow us on
Twitter @HELPCovenant or “like” us on Facebook
at Wisconsin Covenant-UW System. If students
“like” the Facebook page they will have the
opportunity to connect with Wisconsin Covenant
Scholars and learn about activities on the various
UW campuses.
