About A Sharp Piece of Awesome
A Sharp Piece of Awesome is Taft College’s student-run literary publication. The
publication released its first issue in 2011. This year’s issue will be its fifth. The Taft
College Literary Magazine’s mission is to provide editorial and production experience in
literary publication to students of Taft College, assist the community of Taft in
networking with writers globally, and promote imaginative literature.
This year’s issue has brought about a diverse literary magazine. Selected authors
published in this issue range from Taft College students to distinguished writers.
Cultural diversity is discussed in pieces like Kathleen Zhou’s nonfiction piece about
finding her identity as a Chinese-American, Katherine Miller’s piece on race relations in
1975, and Richard Tagett’s erotic poetry. A newly designed cover distinguishes this
year’s publication from previous issues and tops off the message of diversity.
The literature in the newest issue of A Sharp Piece of Awesome represents the
convergence of different cultural groups and ideas.
