Sandy Grunwald, Chair of the APR Committee, called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m.
Present: Cocks, Brockmann, Grunwald, Knowles, Longhurst, Dickmeyer, Dixon, Kopp
Excused: Denton, Tollefson
1. Review minutes from April 15th. Passed.
2. Review three year progress reports. Begin with Ethnic and Racial Studies.
We rank this report as “minimally successful.” The main issue needing improvement concerns
that of programmatic assessment.
In reference to this report the APR committee came to the conclusion that further clarification
of our guidelines will help departments respond more successfully to these reports.
3. Next three year report. Political Science / Public Administration
APR comm. reviewed the progress report and determined that they are making progress.
These last two will go to the last senate meeting.
4. Response to Faculty senate regarding assessment charge.
a. Importance of reviewing the biannual assessment by a dean, etc.
b. Dean’s letter needs to require a more substantive response as regards assessment.
5. Discussed Microbiology report.
If Jim and Sam can have a draft of the report done by April 27th, then APR will meet to discuss
this report on April 29th.
