Working Title: Marketing Specialist
Hayes Hill Title Series: Marketing Specialist (S74XN)
University Relations and Communications
Position Summary
Under the direction of the executive director for University Relations and Communications, this position oversees
all marketing efforts across the university, including brand strategy, marketing and advertising placement in various
media. The position is tasked with developing and implementing pro-active, integrated marketing plans with
specific and measureable goals. This specialist will know and utilize industry best practices in developing metrics
for evaluating marketing efforts. The specialist will work with the executive director on the marketing component
of UW-Stevens Point’s strategic vision.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate creativity, excel at project management, have a sound
understanding of marketing principles and new technologies, and possess strong writing skills, including the ability
to rework academic or technical text for a broader audience. A team player mentality is essential as is the ability to
work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
A. Marketing Plan/Design Implementation - 80%
- Work closely with Enrollment Management and Advancement teams as well as other campus leaders
on identifying and prioritizing specific marketing goals and strategies to achieve them
- Create/maintain a strong working relationship with the print shop, graphic design team, online content
coordinator, and others on campus to ensure consistent and coordinated messaging across
communication platforms
- Build collaborative relationships with many persons across the university whose duties include
marketing responsibilities, or who have a desire to enhance marketing in their areas
B. Web/Photography Assistance - 10%
- Develop copywriting, web copy, advertising for various print and digital communications for
University Relations and Communications
- Manage the production of marketing publications such as the Visitor’s Guide
- Work with the university event coordinator to create banners and displays that promote the UWStevens Point brand
C. Other duties as assigned - 10%
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree with minimum of 5 years of experience in a marketing project management role
- Demonstrated ability in developing marketing plans, copywriting for brochures and other platforms, and creating
metrics
- Ability to work in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of marketing principles and new techniques
- Demonstrated experience developing a comprehensive marketing plan
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to rework academic or technical text for a broader audience
- Experience in successful project management
- Demonstrated creative ability
- Demonstrated skills using social media and other current platforms
- Demonstrated knowledge of data analytics
- Experience working in higher education
