Position Description: The Director of Athletics creates a vision and provides leadership for the department
of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Director of Athletics directly
supervises coaches, athletic administration and support services personnel, volunteers, and student
employees. The Director of Athletics reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs with

 UW-Stevens Point offers 20 varsity intercollegiate sports, featuring 11 women's and nine men's
teams.
 In 2014-15, UWSP teams finished with a 188-113-4 record, including a 78-49-3 record against
conference opponents. Six teams won Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC)
championships and 11 teams made NCAA Division III postseason play.
 Finished the 2014-15 academic year ranked 26th in Division III in the Learfield Sports Directors'
Cup standings. This was UW-Stevens Point’s highest finish since 2010-11 and UWSP is one of just
12 schools to be ranked in the top 40 in the Directors’ Cup standings in all 20 years of the cup.
 Pointers teams have won 157 regular season conference championships, 52 conference tournament
titles and 11 NCAA national championships. In addition, 43 individual UWSP athletes have won
NCAA national championships.
 In 2014-15, 131 UWSP student-athletes earned All-WIAC honors and 18 were named NCAA
Division III All-Americans.
 Every year over 40,000 fans enjoy a UWSP athletics event.

Qualifications:
Required:
-Master’s degree from an accredited university
-Minimum 5 years demonstrated professional work experience in athletics
-Demonstrated experience with:
-games management
-financial management; budgets
-personnel administration
-community relations
Preferred:
-Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited university (explain relevance in cover letter)
-Experience in Athletics Administration at a university level
-Demonstrated experience in fundraising
-Demonstrated strong commitment to athletes as students
-Demonstrated experience supporting students from diverse and multicultural backgrounds
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and engaging public presence that invites partnerships
and engagement across campus and in the community
Appointment Date: July 1, 2016 or shortly thereafter
Terms of Employment: Full-time, 12 month position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with
experience and qualifications.
