Position: Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Printmaking
Department: Art and Design
Hayes Hill Title: Assistant Professor (C40NN)
Position Description: The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Department of Art and Design is
seeking a full time, tenure track faculty member in printmaking. Our internationally recognized
printmaking program has a strong record of innovation and active engagement in interdisciplinary,
community and civic projects. The printmaking curriculum includes traditional and contemporary practices
combining conceptual and technical aspects of the discipline. The ideal candidate will be capable of
teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate printmaking courses in intaglio, lithography,
relief, screen print and digital technologies. The candidate must be able to maintain an open-access
printmaking studio. Additional skills and teaching abilities in design, drawing, painting and/or photography
are desired. The department’s studio teaching load is three courses per semester. Other responsibilities
include student advising, professional creative research, and service to the department, college and
university.
Department Description: The Art and Design program is well established and NASAD accredited. The
Department of Art and Design currently has 280 majors, 14 ranked full time faculty members and
additional staff members. Art and Design majors pursue either BA degrees in Art History or Studio Arts or
BFA degrees in Art with an emphasis in 2D, 3D or Graphic Design. The 2D emphasis area currently has 62
students with six instructors, and four full-time, tenured faculty members. The printmaking studio is a
comprehensive, well-equipped 2115 square foot facility that includes five presses, an archive room, an acid
room, a small darkroom for photo-printmaking processes, an excellent ventilation system including
articulated arms for local venting, a spray booth, a hydraulic lift-mounted press for wheel chair-bound
students and natural lighting.

Qualifications:
Required:
- MFA in Art with a Focus on Printmaking
-Active Record of Printmaking Professional Development
Preferred:
- Higher Education Teaching Experience in Printmaking
-Evidence of community/civic engagement and curriculum development
-Skills and Ability to teach in one or more of: design, digital technologies, drawing, painting, and/or
photography
Appointment Date: August 29, 2016 or shortly thereafter
Terms of Employment: Assistant Professor, Probationary/Tenure Track. Salary is competitive,
commensurate with experience and qualifications.
