International Engagement Scholarship
“I-Engage”
FOCUS: Develop intercultural understanding and communication through participating in campus and
community events.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: $250 - $2000
APPLICATION DEADLINES:
Fall Semester: December 1 Spring Semester: May 1
 Applicants will be notified via UWL email regarding the outcome of their application, including the
amount of scholarship awarded by December 1 for fall submissions and May 1 for spring submissions.
 Scholarship awards will appear on student bills the semester following the application submission.
ELIGIBILTY: Current full-time UWL undergraduate (2.5 GPA) or graduate students (3.0 GPA) who meet
one of the following criteria (not based on financial need):
 F-1 international student (including ESL) who is not government sponsored
 Study abroad student planning to participate in a UWL approved program during the following term
Students are strongly encouraged to submit an application each semester during their UWL
career, provided they meet one of the eligibility requirements listed above.

interact and see the world.
2. Moving Outside My Comfort Zone – Achieve a greater understanding of yourself by exploring the

3. Exploring Leadership Opportunities – Achieve a greater understanding of what it means to be a
leader and how to lead.
4. Furthering Cross Cultural Relationships and Communication – Achieve a greater understanding of
how to communicate effectively and work with people of different cultural backgrounds.

significantly increased your awareness and understanding of one of the 4 areas mentioned above and address the

SUBMISSION PROCESS
 Complete the information under section I – Personal Information
 Sign the application on page 2
 Complete a resume per section II
 Complete a one page reflection paper per section III
 Combine the documents listed above into one document identified as I-Engage with your full name
 Email the complete application (minimum of 4 pages) to international@uwlax.edu by the deadline
listed above. Only one application per student will be accepted each semester, thus, make sure your
application is complete and you have included all the necessary information PRIOR to
submission.
 STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION EACH
SEMESTER DURING THEIR UWL CAREER, PROVIDED THEY MEET ONE OF THE
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS LISTED ABOVE.
