JANUARY 5, 2016 -- Department recommendations for CATEGORY A ACADEMIC STAFF promotions due in
Dean’s Office.
JANUARY 29, 2016 -- Dean’s recommendations due to Vice Chancellor and/or Assistant Chancellor AND
HHTAC.
Approximately March 1, 2016 -- Chancellor and Vice Chancellor to notify incumbent.
JUNE 1, 2016 -- Department recommendations for EMERITUS status for faculty and academic staff due to
Dean.

Promotion Eligibility Schedule for Academic Staff
For Promotion from Associate to No Prefix (1.5 years’ experience required by January 1, 2016):
If you were hired prior to October 1, 2014 (start date of September 30, 2014, or earlier), then you are
eligible to apply for promotion in 2015-16 from Associate to No Prefix.
For Promotion from No Prefix to Senior if hired at No Prefix level (5 years’ experience required by January
1, 2016):
If you were hired at the No Prefix level prior to March 31, 2011, then you are eligible to apply for promotion
in 2015-16 from No Prefix to Senior.
For Promotion from No Prefix to Senior if hired at Associate level (5 additional years’ experience from the
academic year in which you were last promoted = 6.5 total years’ experience from start date required by
January 1, 2016):
If your last promotion (from Associate to No Prefix) took place in the 2010-11 academic year, then you are
eligible to apply for promotion in 2015-16 from No Prefix to Senior.
How to determine your years of experience
Hired April 1 through September 30: If you are hired between April 1 and September 30, you will be
considered to have completed one full year at UW-Stevens Point at the conclusion of the academic year
that began in August (for academic year employees) or at the conclusion of the fiscal year (for annual
employees) that began July 1. Example: If you’re hired beginning April 1, 2015, then 2015-16 will be
considered your 1st year at UW-Stevens Point. By the same token, if you are hired beginning September 30,
2015, then 2015-16 will be considered your 1st full year at UW-Stevens Point.
Hired October 1 through March 31: If you are hired between October 1 and March 31, you will be
considered to have completed one-half year (.5) at UW-Stevens Point at the conclusion of the academic
year that began in August (for academic year employees) or at the conclusion of the fiscal year (for annual
employees) that began July 1. Example: If you’re hired beginning October 1, 2015, then 2015-16 will be
considered your .5th year at UW-Stevens Point. By the same token, if you are hired beginning March 31,
2016, then 2015-16 will be considered your .5th year at UW-Stevens Point.
