Students have the option of taking a one-credit (graduate or undergraduate) independent
study/special project in conjunction with this conference. The requirement for this one-credit
course is to write a 3-6 page review of two workshops or forums you attend this conference. In
both of these “workshop/forum reviews,” you need to include the following information.

Your name and contact information: phone number or e-mail address where you can
be reached.
Title of the workshop or forum you attended
SUMMARY: This should be a comprehensive summary of the workshop/forum you
attended. In this summary, please provide specific information covered.
PROFESSIONAL RELEVANCE: In this review you need to connect the information
you learned in this workshop/forum to specific aspects of your professional work.
How will you use the knowledge you gained from this workshop in your work
environment? Specifically, it is expected that in addition to a review you provide
some level of professional application. Is the agency you work for currently using a
similar program? Can some of the recommendations from this workshop/forum be
used in your interaction with client, co-workers, students, etc.?
PERSONAL REACTION: Discuss your personal reaction to the information
provided in the workshop/forum. Do you agree or disagree with the basic premise or
techniques suggested? Was the presentation style effective? When appropriate, you
may wish to apply the information given in the workshop to personal experience.
Both of your workshop/forum reviews are due on December 7, 2015. Please be sure to turn in
both of these reviews at the same time. Send the reviews to the address listed above via mail or
e-mail. You can also drop them off at the Sociology and Social Work Department office (488A
CCC) on the UWSP campus.
