dates to know
MAY 13-21
Final Exam Quiet Hours
Twenty-four hour quiet hours begin Friday, May 13,
11:59 p.m. and are in effect throughout finals week.
MAY 20
Last day to make room changes for fall 2016
Room changes (and/or contracts) will be accepted from
current residents until this date. After May 20, the next
available time to make a room change is during week 2
room changes of the fall semester. Contracts received
after this date will be assigned a room by the assignments
program in July.
JULY 1
Last day to terminate your housing contract for
fall 2016 and receive a partial refund*
Individuals who have a change of plans can terminate their
housing/food service contract up through July 1, 2016 and
still receive $100 of the $125 back (the remaining $25
serves as a processing fee).
Termination requests must be received from you and
include your name, student ID number, reason for
terminating AND signature. The letter must be
postmarked on or before July 1 . You may also submit your
termination request through your UWSP email account to
resliv@uwsp.edu. Terminations after this date forfeit the
entire $125 prepayment.

fall 2016.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
First day of move-in for fall 2016
(returning students)
Returning students may begin moving in on this day at
9 a.m. You may also move in after this date, but earlier
arrival is not possible.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
First day of classes for fall 2016
departure date
final exam study hours
Final exam quiet hours (24-hour quiet hours) begin Friday,
May 13, 11:59 p.m. and continue throughout the final
exam period. Final exams have a tendency to create
higher anxiety levels so study hard, get adequate rest
and be sure to consider your neighbors’ needs (e.g.,
keep your stereo at a minimal volume or use
headphones). Final exam study hours violations will
result in disciplinary action.
“Relaxed hours” are in effect daily from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
and 4-7 p.m. These are flexible hours that allow room
doors to be left open, vacuuming, music at a reasonable
level and normal levels of conversation. Activities that are
prohibited during relaxed hours include, but are not
limited to: stereos and televisions in excess volume and
yelling. Whenever possible, move-outs should occur during
these time periods.
Bunks and lofts should be dismantled either before
11:59 p.m., May 13 or during relaxed hours. Dismantling
can be a noisy process not easily accommodated during
quiet times.
summer housing
Staying in Stevens Point for the summer and need housing?
Residential Living does provide housing in the summer on a
weekly (Sunday-Saturday) basis. For summer 2016, the
summer hall is located in the Suites@201.
Applications are available in the Residential Living Office,
601 Division Street Building, and online (www.uwsp.edu/
resliving/pdfs/contract1530.pdf). The Suites@201 will be
deep-cleaned this summer. This means that you may have
to move at least once during the summer (deep-cleaning
will be completed a floor at a time. Please see the summer
contract for additional information).
If you live in the Suites@201 this spring and want to
extend your stay by a week or so, you can apply for
summer housing for just the weeks you need. To ensure
that you can stay in your spring room, you will need
to submit your summer housing application by May 3.
If you will be living in the Suites@201 next fall and want to
arrive slightly earlier than the opening day, you can reserve
weeks in advance of that date (September 4). Again, to
ensure being assigned to your fall room, you must
submit your summer housing application by May 3.
Your housing contract requires you to be properly checked
out of your room not later than 24 hours after your last
final exam.
If you have a final on Friday, May 20, you have until
10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 to depart. This is the final
all-hall closing time.
If you are participating in commencement, you
must contact your hall director by Sunday, May 8, to
make arrangements for an alternative checkout time
on Saturday.
If you do not complete checkout by the stated time, you
will be charged a late checkout charge of $25/15 minutes
late — or portion thereof. So, if you are 20 minutes late in
checking out, you will be assessed a $50 checkout fine!
Plan ahead and avoid costly penalties.
coming back next fall
HALLS RE-OPEN SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 9 A.M.
CLASSES BEGIN TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
Mark your calendars now for next fall’s return date/first
day of classes.
Because of staff training and other activities scheduled
for the fall, please remember that September 4 is the
earliest date that you’ll be able to check into your fall
assignment. If Sunday, September 4, doesn’t work for
you, check-in is also available on Monday and Tuesday,
September 5 and 6.

you during our July assignment process.
cleaning tips
You must remove your belongings AND clean your room
before leaving. Before checking out, your room must be
restored to move-in condition.
All the materials and tools you need to clean your room at
the end of the semester are available in the cleaning kits
available at your hall’s front desk.
suites@201
Residents of the Suites@201 have a slightly different
checkout process. If you are a spring Suites@201 resident,
be certain to check with your CA about specifics on how to
clean your suite and how to complete your checkout
process.
Carefully read through the items on the closing checklist for
details. The cleaning kits that are available at your hall’s
front desk also contain helpful hints on how to use the
products they contain.
Remember to use the correct product for the job
at hand!
