CNR Major Course Fee Each student carrying a CNR major (with the exception of Paper Science) will be charged $40/semester f
the "CNR Fee Treehaven & CWES" to fund major renovations at the Treehaven and Central Wisconsin
Environmental Station (CWES) Field Stations. This fee will be charged to CNR majors enrolled at UWSP
each spring and fall semester beginning in Jan, 2009.

2016 Portage County Cultural Festival NEW
The Festival is Saturday, May 7 at SPASH. Without the support of 500+ volunteers like you, the festival
could not and would not be successful. Please consider signing up for a volunteer shift again in 2016.
Volunteers are needed both Friday evening, May 6 and throughout the day on Saturday, May 7. Activity
areas include: set up, kitchen/food service, hospitality, security, children’s area, and take down. There
truly is a volunteer opportunity for everyone!

UW­Stevens Point to mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month
National studies reveal one in four college women report surviving rape or attempted rape at some point
in their lifetime. One in 71 men report having been raped some point in their lives. As a part of its commitment to fostering a safe, productive learning environment, the University of
Wisconsin­Stevens Point will partner with the city of Stevens Point, Portage County and victim services
groups in declaring April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and hosting several free, public awareness
events.
On Wednesday, April 27, campus and community members are encouraged to join others across the
country by wearing denim to raise awareness of rape and sexual assault. Learn more about national
“Denim Day” at http://denimdayinfo.org.
Also on April 27, a Take Back the Night event will be held at 5 p.m. in the Dreyfus University Center
Encore Room.

Costa Rica Tropical Ecology 2016­17 Winterim Study Abroad

reporter. National Student Exchange (NSE) Full Academic Year or Single
Semester, Fall or Spring
NSE offers students a domestic alternative to studying abroad. What began with three campuses
exchanging seven students is now 200 universities placing 3,000 students each year. UW­Stevens Point
became a member institution in 2014 and will begin to send students to NSE participating universities,
and welcome NSE students to campus, in the fall of 2015.

UW ­ Milwaukee's Natural History Workshops Join the University of Wisconsin of Milwaukee as the host several workshops through out 2016. The
workshops offer college level instruction for a wide range of expeience under the guidance of noted

Becoming a Wisconsin Master Naturalist Volunteer Are you fascinated by nature? Do you enjoy working outside? Would you like to share your knowledge
with others? If so, we invite you to become a Wisconsin Master Naturalist.
The Wisconsin Master Naturalist program aims to promote awareness, understanding, and stewardship o
the state's natural resources. Wisconsin Master Naturalists provide volunteer service in
education/interpretation, stewardship, and citizen science.
Wisconsin Master Naturalist Volunteer training will be offered June 6­11 at Schmeeckle Reserve. The 40
hour course covers natural history, wildlife, plants, geology, and interpretation. The training will be
offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The course will feature several guest experts, including Bob Freckmann , UW­Stevens Point Freckmann
Herbarium; Eric Anderson, UW­Stevens Point Wildlife Department; Alan Haney, UW­Stevens Point Forest
Department (emeritus); and Paul Skawinski, UW­Extension Lakes program.
Numerous field trips will offer hands­on explorations of Schmeeckle Reserve, Powers Bluff County Park,
and Mead Wildlife Area.
The course fee is $250. Meals and lodging are not included.
