Have You Heard? Have you heard that the nursing curriculum is changing? You may have thought, How does this change affect me? When does it start? Why does it have to change? The new curriculum will go into effect Fall 2016. If you are a currently enrolled nursing student, you will continue to follow your initial program of study to graduation. If you are unsuccessful or choose to withdraw, you may reinstate into the new curriculum. A transition timeline is included on the next page that shows which courses will be taught each semester, as well as equivalencies between the old and new curriculum. In addition, there are changes to the admission cycle. We will still admit new students twice a year. But the day program will admit in the fall ONLY and the evening program will move to a spring admission on a 5‐semester schedule. We will have one more admission in the old curriculum of Career Mobility for LPNs who have completed in 2015 or 2016. Applications will be accepted in July and August 2016 for a spring 2017 start. After that, LPN and paramedics will have a combined course for the RN Bridge program in spring 2018. The admission criteria has also changed. This will only affect students applying for future admission ‐ the ACT exam will now be used for ranking instead of the TEAS exam. If you are reinstating ‐ even to the new curriculum, you will NOT have to take the ACT. Hopefully these changes will not impact you at all. But if they do, please check the website for up‐to‐date info or give us a call! We appreciate your patience as we move through this transition.
