Administrative Program Reviews Support Unit Unit Mission Administrative Support Unit 3.3.1.2 Business Office Human Resources Information Technologies Maintenance (Physical Plant) The purpose of Calhoun Community College’s Business Operations is to provide quality and efficient customer service in the processing of all financial transactions for students, faculty, and staff including payments, purchasing, budgeting, payroll, and mail services. The mission of the Office of Human Resources is to encourage and support the college’s diverse workforce with the systems required for orientation, productivity, advancement, stable tenure, and ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and policies. To provide technical support for computer hardware, computer software, and network infrastructure related issues to Calhoun Community College’s faculty, staff, and students. The Maintenance Department is a service organization dedicated to support the Calhoun Community College’s mission and its various constituents in a proactive manner. The purpose of the Maintenance Department is to provide a wide range of Alignment of Outcomes with Mission To accomplish the institution’s mission, Business Operations will assess our financial transaction procedures on a continual basis and make improvements that will lead to providing responsive services to students, faculty and staff. The Office of Human Resources supports the institution’s mission statement by striving to hire and retain a high quality, diverse workforce which in turn will provide quality innovative instruction and responsive student support services. The Information Technologies Department supports the College’s mission by providing technical and administrative oversight for the College’s network infrastructure and security/integrity of the administrative system and its data. This includes support and management of classroom technologies, events and other educational activities; along with daily IT related requests. Information Technologies also supports Distance Learning with respect to Blackboard and Tegrity content management. Public Relations Office of Vice President The purpose of the Public Affairs, Community Relations and Special Events unit (which includes Calhoun Educational Television and the College Print Shop) is to promote positive aspects of Calhoun Community College to its various constituent groups. The purpose of the Division of Instruction and Student Success is to promote teaching, learning, and scholarship for students and faculty. The Instruction and Student Success Division fosters an innovative and effective learning environment that respects the diversity of individual backgrounds, abilities, cultures, and interests. A widerange of student support services is also available. Degree programs are designed to prepare students for transfer to a 4-year college or university, or for the workforce. Short-term training opportunities are also available at the both the credit and noncredit level. responsive support services and activities; ensure a safe environment with open access and integrating assessment, accountability, and improvement by evaluating activities and programs. The office is responsible for maintaining and protecting student records in a manner consistent with State and Federal regulations. Composed of the staff in Advising, Recruitment, Career Coaches, and Orientation, the Enrollment Management team members support the academic mission of the college, obtain optimal enrollments, including retention and recruitment, and provide services that are seamless, customer-friendly, student centered and efficient. The department works strategically and share resources to meet Enrollment Management overall goals. Enrollment Management is an active participant in incorporating the strategic plan of the college. Distance Learning at Calhoun Community College is a campus-wide resource for faculty members and departments interested in promoting teaching excellence, improving student learning outcomes, and encouraging ongoing professional development and scholarly engagement through the use of technology. Student Financial Services Library Planning, Research, and Grants Student Affairs The Student Financial Services provides assistance to students seeking grants, student loans, work positions and scholarships. Library Mission: We offer access to information and promote lifelong learning. The Office of Planning, Research and Grants gathers, analyzes and presents accurate data in a user-friendly format to use in developing grant proposals and to assist in data-based decision making. This Office also provides the tools and framework for strategic planning conducted by the Planning Council, academic units, administrative units and educational support units. Coordinating the College’s efforts in grants seeking, grants development and grants management is also a critical function of this office. The mission of Student Affairs is to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success by providing a learning environment in which individuals from The outcomes of the Student Financial Services Office aligns with the college’s mission by providing Federal, State and Institutional financial information to prospective and currently enrolled students. Library outcomes provide quality support services for student learning and instructional support; promote lifelong learning; contribute to student retention and student success; encourage cultural enrichment; contribute to a supportive, responsible learning environment; and, ensure opportunities for personal development. The efforts of the Office of Planning, Research and Grants supports the College’s mission and strategic plan by serving as the clearinghouse for assessment of academic and administrative units. The Office provides a supportive, responsive environment to faculty, staff and students for accountability and improvement of processes, services and instruction. Testing Center Career Services The mission of the Testing Center is to provide support to the academic units of the college to provide additional lecture time and resources. The testing center is designed to provide an environment conducive to testing and provide students with a designated period of time that is available for testing. • To design, schedule, and provide a full range of services that facilitate the successful movement of students from the initial point of contact with the institution through completion of the educational process, based on the students’ goals. • To assume a leadership role in determining and implementing prescriptions for student success. • To merit the trust and confidence of the administrative and legislative bodies to which it is subordinate, as well as that of the public it services, by carrying out the various functions of the unit in a highly professional, yet costeffective manner. The Testing Center/ACT Center has adopted the following institutional goals: Support to faculty and to student success by providing a dedicated Center where academic testing is the mission and priority. The Center utilizes emerging instructional technology by uses the latest forms of technology and current online learning platforms. Workforce services are constantly updated by the demands of employers seeking the ACT Center services. Industry certification are updated as each becomes available to the college through the network of ACT Centers 2013-14 2014-15 Administrative Program Reviews Community/Public Support Unit 3.3.1.3 Adult Education Business & Industry/Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education The purpose of Adult Education is to provide quality adult education and literacy services to Alabamians 17 years of age and older. Alabama’s Adult Education Program operates under the authority of the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act within the Workforce Investment Act (WIA-P. L. 105-221). The program goals are to assist adults to: 1) become literate and obtain the knowledge and skill necessary for employment and self-sufficiency, 2) obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children, 3) complete secondary school or complete the equivalent of a secondary school education, and 4) attain additional postsecondary training of skills for the workforce. Calhoun Workforce Solutions (CWS) provides both short-term open enrollment classes to promote lifelong learning and professional development in high demand career fields. CWS also provides customized, flexible and cost-effective training to local business and industry clients to train individuals for changing workforce needs to achieve, meet, and maintain peak effectiveness in the market place. To complement and achieve Calhoun Community College’s mission of meeting “the educational and training demands of a unique and highly diverse population.” The college also is committed to providing training and education for area business and industry through our Calhoun Workforce Solutions department where the Adult Education Program is structurally located. To complete the mission of the institution Calhoun Workforce Solutions has adopted the following goals, meet the needs of area businesses and industries by providing workforce training programs; empower students with the necessary tools to maximize their potential by providing a network of support services and activities; utilize emerging instructional technology by providing innovative learning opportunities for students; address community and economic development needs within the service area by developing and sustaining partnerships with public and private agencies; and ensure effectiveness by planning, assessing, Administrative Program Reviews Dual Enrollment Foundation To provide opportunities for students to earn high school and college credit concurrently and to recruit students from this program as full time students at Calhoun upon graduation from high school. The Calhoun Community College Foundation and Office of Development are responsible for scholarship management, relationship building and fund raising to support the mission and needs of the college. and evaluating all activities and programs.
