REPORTING INSTANCES OF ACADEMIC
DISHONEST Y
¡ Whenever a student has committed plagiarism,
either intentionally or not, it’s important to
communicate the incident to the university
¡ Even if instructors prefer to handle the situation
personally and no further action is required, it’s
still important to document the incident
¡ This helps the university maintain consistent
records and track repeated offenses
REPORTING INSTANCES OF ACADEMIC
DISHONEST Y
¡ For most instructors, instances of dishonesty are
caught via Turnitin reports, viewed through
WorldClassRoom
¡ To make documenting such incidents quicker, the
Academic Dishonesty Report is therefore
accessible in WorldClassRoom as well
¡ Consider the following steps to complete this
process
VIEWING ASSIGNMENTS IN
WORLDCLASSROOM
¡ In WorldClassRoom, you have two different
assignment views you may see, depending on how
you prefer to grade/view assignments
§ Regular mode or SpeedGrader
¡ In either one, there’s a HELP link in the upper right
corner.
THE HELP LINK
THE HELP OPTIONS
¡ Clicking on either
of those Help links
opens this menu
¡ Parts of the menu
may be different
for certain
instructors
¡ The key features
will remain the
same, though
THE HELP OPTIONS
¡ Note that one of
these options is an
Academic
Dishonesty Report
¡ Also of note to
some instructors
might be the
Students at Risk
Form
THE ACADEMIC DISHONEST Y REPORT
¡ Selecting the
Academic Dishonesty
Report takes you to a
form
¡ Provide as much
information as
possible about the
incident as well as
basic information
about yourself, the
course, and the
student
THE ACADEMIC DISHONEST Y REPORT
¡ Once the primary information has been provided,
consider what further supporting documentation you
should include
¡ Supporting documentation will often entail the Turnitin
Report
§ The Plagiarism Prevention staff can assist with this
step if you’re unsure how to download the report
¡ If the incident was discovered through other means,
provide those
¡ If the Turnitin Report isn’t accessible, then the original
document submitted by the student is also effective
THE ACADEMIC DISHONEST Y REPORT
¡ Any exchanges with the student (e-mail, Canvas
messages, etc.) may also be of assistance
¡ If the student at any time admits guilt or otherwise
conveys telling information about the incident, this
is important to communicate as well
§ Even if documentation isn’t possible, a description
of the verbal account is helpful
¡ Overall, any further information about the incident
and its history will allow us to evaluate the
situation more effectively
THE ACADEMIC DISHONEST Y REPORT
¡ Note: there’s not an option to attach
documentation in this Academic Dishonesty
Reporting Form
Gather the materials that support the incident and email them separately to acadintegrity@webster.edu
¡ From there, either Dr. Carolyn I. Brown or Laura
Hardin Marshall will respond to your report and
communicate with you further as needed to assess
what additional steps need to be taken to resolve
the incident
