Complete the first two sections of the attached Vocabulary Ch. 3 packet. (Ten Words in Context and Matching Words
with Definitions). Check your answers with another student or with the Vocabulary Chapter 3 PPT on the teacher page.
Classwork:
1. The class turned in the prep work over “Eleven” completed to get ready for the Socratic Seminar for a grade last
Friday. Since students did not write paragraphs in the way that the teacher expected, the class discussed how to
write a 3.8 paragraph and went over how to write a strong topic sentence. See the ppt entitled “3.8 Paragraph”
under the course documents section of the teacher page.
2. See the two handouts – one is a rubric for the 3.9 paragraph, the other gives the formula for how to write this
paragraph.
3. Complete the writing prompt at the bottom of the 3.8 Paragraph Formula sheet for a grade (to replace the one on
the original assignment).
