MANOA, Hawaii. – Stefen Romero finished with
three hits and four runs batted in and the Oregon
State baseball team got the best of host Hawaii,
10-6, in the 2010 season opener Friday night at
Les Murakami Stadium.
Romero provided the Beavers with the team’s
biggest at bats of the night. He drove in the Beavers’ first runs of the season with a double in the
fourth, then doubled with one out in the sixth.
Romero became the answer to a trivia question
in the ninth. He hit the Beavers’ first home run of
the 2010 season when he drove a pitch over the
left field wall, extending OSU’s two-run lead at the
time to 10-6.
The junior certainly highlighted a strong offensive
night for the Beavers, who tallied 10 hits off five
Hawaii pitchers. They drove starter Nate Klein from
the game after 5 1/3 innings, where he allowed
seven hits and six runs.
The game was tied, 6-6, entering the eighth, but
the Beavers rallied for two runs to take the lead for
good.
MANOA, Hawaii. – The Oregon State baseball
team dropped a 5-4 decision to Hawaii Sunday
afternoon at Les Murakami Stadium as the host
Rainbows overcame a two-run deficit in the ninth
for the win.
Hawaii pinch hitter Christian Johnson tied the
game with a one-out, solo home run off Oregon
State closer Kevin Rhoderick. The Rainbows won
the game with two outs when Collin Bennett singled to right center on a 3-2 pitch from Rhoderick,
bringing in Kolten Wong from third.
The runs were the first of the season allowed
by Rhoderick and by the Oregon State relievers.
They had come into the game with no runs allowed
through the first 8 1/3 innings of the season.
Oregon State took the lead into the ninth after
Stefen Romero hit his second home run of the season in the eighth, a solo shot that put the Beavers
up 4-3.
Greg Peavey made his first start of the season
and allowed three runs and four hits over five innings.

MANOA, Hawaii - Tanner Robles scattered
three runs over 5 1/3 innings and Oregon State
used multiple-run innings in the third and sixth to
defeat Hawaii, 7-3, Saturday afternoon at Les Murakami Stadium.
Robles was touched for runs in the first and
second innings, but settled down from there for his
first win of the 2010 season. He struck out three,
walked two and allowed six hits in the victory.
Oregon State’s four-run third put the Beavers
ahead for good and was reminiscent of the team’s
three-run fourth an inning earlier. Michael Miller
singled with one out, moved to second on a Tyler
Smith single and then the two scored on a double
by Adalberto Santos which tied the game, 2-2.
Santos made it a 3-2 game when he was driven
on a single up the middle by Rob Folsom, who then
proceeded to steal second.
Stefen Romero, who finished the game 1-for3, continued his hot hitting through the first two
games of the season with a single to left, driving
in Folsom.
MANOA, Hawaii - James Nygren and Matt Boyd
combined to limit Hawaii to five hits in a shutout of
the Rainbows Monday night as the Beavers concluded their trip with a 5-0 victory at Les Murakami
Stadium.
Nygren made his first start of the season and
seventh of his career. He went four full innings,
limiting Hawaii to three hits and three walks while
striking out one.
Because he did not go the required five innings,
however, the right-hander did not figure in the decision.
Nygren gave way to Boyd in the fifth as the freshman made his second appearance on the mound
during the series. Boyd proceeded to stymie the
Hawaii offense, scattering two hits and a walk while
striking out two over five innings. He picked up the
win to improve to 1-0 this season.
Oregon State totaled six hits off five Hawaii
pitchers, and made the most of them. Carter Bell
finished with two hits for his third multiple-hit game
of the season, surpassing his two from last season.

to 1-0 on the year. Gruver allowed three hits and a
walk while striking out nine.
Conversely, Oregon State starter Tanner Robles went 3 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and five
hits. He dropped to 1-1 on the year.
Sam Gaviglio pitched in relief for his second
appearance of the season. The right-hander impressed, scattering three hits and two walks over
three innings of work.

when Stefen Romero hit his third home run of the
season, a two-run shot over the left field fence, in
the ninth.

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Oregon State baseball
team mounted a late rally but fell 6-4 to Arizona
State Friday at Surprise Stadium in front of a crowd
of 2,346 in the second game of the Coca-Cola
Classic.
Oregon State ended the game scoring four runs
off of six hits and committed one error.
The Sun Devils tied up the game in the fourth
inning with three runs on four hits and were helped
by two wild pitches by Oregon State starting pitcher Tyler Waldron.
Waldron went 4 1/3 innings giving up a season
high seven hits and allowing four earned runs. He
struck out one and walked one.
Arizona State took the lead with one run in the
bottom of the fifth when the leadoff hitter walked
and came around to score on a single by Johnny
Ruettiger. The Beavers got out of a bases loaded
jam when reliever James Nygren came in struck out
Devan Marrero to end the inning.
After picking up one run in the bottom of the
sixth and seventh innings, Arizona State held a 6-3
lead.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Matt Boyd’s two-out, threerun double with two outs in the ninth gave the Oregon State baseball team a 5-4 victory over visiting
Utah in the first game of the Beavers’ doubleheader
Saturday.
Parker Berberet hit a solo shot in the seventh to
narrow Utah’s three-run lead, which had stood at
4-1. The Beavers then loaded the bases against
Utah relievers Zach Adams and Stephen Streich.
Boyd’s double, which fell down the right field line,
came off Streich and sent Adams to a 1-1 record
this season. It scored John Tommasini, Brent Warren
and Jared Norris and gave the Beavers their second
one-run win this season.
Ryan Gorton worked a scoreless ninth for OSU to
go to 1-0 this season.
The Beavers got on the board in the fourth for a
1-0 lead. Adalberto Santos led off the offense with
a single, then scored when Stefen Romero tripled
to center.
Utah, however, matched the Beavers with a solo
run in the sixth when Devin Walker grounded back to
the pitcher, Greg Peavey.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Greg Peavey dominated
Tennessee Sunday afternoon, holding the Volunteers to three hits in a 1-0 shutout in front of 2,217
fans at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Peavey gave up a single to Charley Thurber in
the second, and a double to Chris Fritts in the fifth.
He also walked Cody Hawn and hit Zach Osborne
with a pitch in the first. None of the four runners got
past second, however, and Peavey remained virtually in control for the entire game.
Hawn tried to start a rally in the ninth, reaching
base via a single with two outs in the ninth, but
Peavey, on his 108th and final pitch of the game,
got Blake Forsythe to strike out looking on a 3-2
pitch to end the game.
All told, Peavey struck out a career-best nine
Tennessee batters en route to his first career complete game shutout.
The native of Vancouver, Wash., lowered his
earned run average to 0.64 with the outstanding
effort. He began the game at 3.60.
The victory gave the Beavers a 2-1 series victory
over Tennessee.
SURPRISE, Ariz. – Left-handed freshman Matt
Boyd recorded his second win of the season in a
10-3 win over UC Riverside in the first game of the
Coca-Cola Classic in Surprise, Ariz.
Boyd started for the first time this season for the
Beavers and went a career long 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on only four hits while only throwing 78 pitches. He recorded a career-high seven
strike outs.
The Beavers scored four runs in the bottom of
the second to take a 4-0 lead.
The Beavers (6-2 overall) added two more runs
in the third when starting pitcher Boyd hit a two
run shot over the right center wall, scoring Stefen Romero who reached by a hit by pitch. It was
Boyd’s first career home run.
He finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and
two runs batted in at the plate.
SURPRISE, Ariz. – Tanner Robles spun 7 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball, and Oregon State utilized some timely hitting for a 9-0 shutout of Utah
Valley Saturday afternoon.
Robles scattered nine hits over those seven innings, but held the Wolverines off the scoreboard
otherwise. He struck out nine and teamed with Nick
Stiltner to shut out Utah Valley; Oregon State’s
third shutout in 10 games this season.
The offense posted seven hits off three Utah Valley pitchers, led by Stefen Romero’s two hits.
No other Beaver finished with more than one hit,
but it mattered little as Oregon State posted two
runs apiece in the second and third innings, then
broke the game open with five runs in the fourth.
In both the second and third innings, the scoring
started off doubles to lead off the inning. Romero
started the scoring with one in the second, and
later scored when Travis Anderson doubled. Tyler
Smith then singled in Anderson to make it 2-0.
That lead got pushed to 4-0 in the third.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Adalberto Santos hit his
first home run of the season and the Oregon State
baseball team overcame deficits of 4-0 and 5-2 for
a 6-5 win over Portland at Goss Stadium.
Santos hit a two-run home run in the fifth to
knock Portland’s lead to one, 5-4. The Beavers
then scored two more in the sixth on back-to-back
bases loaded walks to Santos and Stefen Romero.
The RBI via the walk in the sixth was Santos’
third of the game, marking his second multiple-RBI
game of the season.

Keeler Brynteson, who dropped to 2-2 this year after allowing two runs, a walk and two strikeouts in
one inning. He did not allow a hit.
Brynteson followed starter Kyle Kraus, who went
4 1/3 innings. He scattered five hits and four runs
– two earned – while striking out four.
Oregon State starter Tyler Waldron was the beneficiary of Oregon State’s comeback victory. He

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Tanner Robles scattered
two runs and four hits over 6 2/3 innings, and Parker Berberet went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in as
the twenty-first ranked Oregon State baseball team
defeated Portland, 9-2, Sunday at Goss Stadium.
With the win, the Beavers swept through their
Spring Tournament, taking all three games over the
weekend.
Robles allowed two runs in the first, then proceeded to get into the seventh allowing just two
hits until being replaced by Kraig Sitton. Robles
ended the game with seven strikeouts and improved to 3-1 on the year.
Sitton came on in the seventh and shut Portland
down the rest of the way, holding the Pilots to just
one hit over the final 2 1/3 innings.
Berberet was one of two Beavers with two hits,
with Adalberto Santos also finishing with two.
Overall, Oregon State rapped nine hits off four
Portland pitchers. The Beavers finished the game
with five hits and six runs – three earned – in 4 2/3
innings off UP starter Scott Burris. He was knocked
out during OSU’s six-run fifth and took the loss to
fall to 0-1 this season.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 18th-ranked Oregon
State baseball team opened Saturday’s doubleheader with a 7-5 victory over Maine in the first
game at Goss Stadium.
Stefen Romero hit his second home run in as
many games and Danny Hayes drove in two in
his second consecutive start and the Beavers improved to 12-3 on the year, winning their sixth consecutive game.
Tyler Waldron made his fifth start of the season,
and went six innings to improve to 3-1 on the year.
Waldron scattered five hits and four runs while
striking out seven. He was replaced by Kevin Rhoderick in the seventh.
Hayes started the game’s scoring with a two-run
double in the first, but Maine tied the game in the
third on a two-run home run by leadoff batter Michael Fransoso.
The Beavers did not sit idle for long, however,
taking the lead for good in the bottom half of the
third.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Tyler Smith and Adalberto
Santos each hit solo home runs and Matt Boyd allowed one run over 6 1/3 innings and the 18thranked Oregon State baseball swept its four-game
series with Maine with a 2-1 victory Sunday at
Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Smith’s and Santos’ home runs were solo and
came in the Beavers’ two-run third, which was all
the scoring OSU needed. Smith started the inning
with a 1-0 home run over the left field fence, clearing the 2007 National Championship sign at the
top of the fence.
It was Smith’s first career home run and gave
OSU a 1-0 lead.
Santos followed with his second home run of the
year, another solo shot approximately 30 feet to the
right from where Smith’s landed. It came on a 1-0
pitch as well from Maine starter Matt Jebb, who
took the loss and fell to 0-3 on the year.
Boyd lasted 6 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and
a run while striking out four.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Both Stefen Romero and
Matt Boyd hit home runs as the 18th-ranked Oregon State baseball team scored early and often
in a 18-3 win over Maine in the opening game of a
four-game series Friday night at Goss Stadium.
Romero hit a two-run shot in the first and Boyd
stroked a solo shot in the seventh to highlight the
Oregon State offensive night, which saw the Beavers posted a season-best 15 hits off four Maine
pitchers. The 18 runs also marked a season-best
for the Beavers, who surpassed their previous best
of 17 set against Tennessee on Feb. 26.
Leading that offensive attack was freshman Danny Hayes, who posted three hits in his first career
start. Ho doubled down the right field line in OSU’s
four-run sixth to highlight his night offensively.
Joining Hayes in the multiple-hit parade was
Boyd, who also finished with three RBI on the
strength of two hits, and Parker Berberet, who finished with two hits as well. For Berberet, it was his
fourth multiple-hit game of the season, while it was
Boyd’s second.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Tanner Robles scattered
two hits over eight innings and the 18th-ranked
Oregon State baseball team erupted for 12 runs in
a 12-2 victory over Maine in the second game of a
doubleheader Saturday at Goss Stadium.
Robles struck out a career-best 12 batters in the
win, the most since Mike Stutes totaled 12 against
UNLV in 2007.
Robles allowed a hit to start the fourth, then gave
up a triple in the eighth, but otherwise worked well
through the Maine lineup. The lefty surpassed his
previous career-best seven strikeouts, and his only
run allowed – in the fourth – was unearned.
The lefty improved to 4-1 on the year, lowering
his earned run average to 1.72 from 2.31 in the
process.
The Beavers finished with 15 hits in the second
game, just a day after posting a season-best 18.
Stefen Romero paced Oregon State with three
hits, giving him five on the day. Keith Jennette tied
for the team lead, posting three hits as well.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Adalberto Santos hit his
third home run of the season and Ryan Gorton
threw five scoreless innings as the 17th-ranked Oregon State baseball team defeated Southern Utah,
11-1, Wednesday night at Goss Stadium.
Gorton made his first start of the season and
improved to 2-0 – and 4-0 in his career - after going five full innings. He scattered six hits over that
stretch and did not walk a batter while striking out
four.
Santos opened the game with a one-out solo
shot in the first, his third round tripper of the season. It was followed by a Parker Berberet double
that scored Matt Boyd and gave OSU a 2-0 lead
after one inning.
That lead ballooned to 5-0 after four. Berberet
drove in his second run of the game with a basesloaded walk in the second, and Michael Miller and
Santos both drove in runs in the fourth for the fiverun lead.
Rob Folsom, who came on in the prior half inning,
doubled home two in the sixth to highlight a five-run
inning for OSU.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A nine-run fifth gave the Oregon State baseball team a cushion they would not
relinquish in a 16-4 win over Long Beach State in
the series opener between the teams Friday night
at Goss Stadium.
The nine runs in the fifth came after a rain delay in
the top half of the inning that lasted 1:07. Leading
3-1 at the time of the delay, Oregon State wasted
no time in adding to its lead. Rob Folsom drove in
two with a single up the middle, and then Carter
Bell doubled to right center, scoring Folsom.
Michael Miller drove in two with a double down
the left-field line, and two batters later, Matt Boyd
drove in two more with a single to center.
Danny Hayes and Adalberto Santos both scored
on wild pitches during the inning and Stefen Romero drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
Romero led the Beavers with three runs batted
in, driving in two with a home run in the seventh. He
went 3-for-4 on the night, his team-leading seventh
multiple-hit game of the season.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Rob Folsom went 2-for-4
with two runs driven in, but the 17th-ranked Oregon State baseball team lost the second game of
a doubleheader to Long Beach State, 8-4, Saturday night at Goss Stadium. LBSU also won the first
game, 7-1, giving the club a sweep of Saturday’s
doubleheader.
Folsom posted his second multiple-hit effort of
the season and sixth multiple-RBI effort. He tripled
home a run in the sixth and doubled home a run in
the eighth.
Adalberto Santos also finished with two hits for
the Beavers, who rapped out nine on the night.
Long Beach State, however, totaled 15, just the
seventh time this season an opponent has out-hit
the Beavers.
Long Beach State chased Oregon State starter Tyler Waldron after 2/3 of an inning. Waldron
allowed five runs and three hits before being replaced by designated hitter Matt Boyd. Waldron
dropped to 3-2 this season.
LOS ANGELES – The 21st-ranked Oregon
State baseball team dropped an 8-2 decision to
USC at Dedeaux Field in a game featuring an uncharacteristic six errors from the Beavers.
All told, the teams combined for nine miscues,
easily the most in a game featuring the Beavers this
season. However, the game was not out of reach,
despite the defensive miscues, until the seventh
when Ricky Oropesa hit a three-run home run for
USC.
Of the 10 runs scored in the game, only five were
earned.
Tanner Robles made his seventh start of the season for the Beavers, and went 4 1/3 innings. He
allowed four hits and three runs – only one earned
– with six strikeouts. He threw 89 pitches before
being replaced by Tyler Waldron with one out in the
fifth. Robles dropped to 4-3 on the year.
Robles was victimized with two unearned runs in
the fourth as the Beavers committed three errors in
the inning. The Trojans did manage a double in the
inning, and scored one of their runs on a sacrifice
fly, which put the game at 3-0 in their favor.

team saw its 10-game win streak snapped in the
first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Goss
Stadium. The 17th-ranked Beavers lost to Long
Beach State, 7-1, in front of 2,179 fans.
Long Beach State finished with 13 hits to Oregon State’s seven. No Oregon State player had
more than one hit in the loss.
Both teams scored solo runs in the first. Long
Beach State loaded the bases on three straight
singles, then took a 1-0 lead when Steve Tinoco
singled to left. The Beavers answered in the bottom
half of the first when Matt Boyd singled through the
right side, scoring Adalberto Santos.
Kirk Singer made it 2-1 when he led off the top
half of the second with a solo home run over the
left-field fence. It was just the second home run allowed this season by Oregon State starter Tanner
Robles.
Robles made it six full innings, but allowed seven
hits and four runs. LBSU scored its final two runs
off Robles in the fourth
Robles dropped to 4-2 on the year.
LOS ANGELES – Parker Berberet’s single with
two outs in the 10th inning proved to be the gamewinner as the 21st-ranked Oregon State baseball
team opened Pacific-10 Conference play with a
4-1 win over USC at Dedeaux Field.
Berberet’s single was lined over the second
baseman’s head and scored Adalberto Santos
from second to break a 1-1 tie in the 10th. Rob Folsom then lined a two-out double to the left-center
gap, scoring two more runs and giving the Beavers
some breathing room in the three-run victory.
The late offensive output backed up an outstanding start from Greg Peavey, who worked seven innings, his fourth outing this season to go at least six
innings, as he posted his second quality start of the
season. He threw 113 pitches, and walked three
while striking out a career-best 10.
The right-hander retired the last 11 batters he
faced, four via the strikeout. The right-hander lowered his earned run average to 2.13 – from 2.32
- in the process, but he did not pick up the decision
after leaving a 1-1 game prior to the start of the
bottom of the eighth.

Kraig Sitton got out of a bases loaded jam in the
ninth as the 21st-ranked Beavers posted a seriesclinching victory over USC, 4-3, at Dedeaux Field.
The Trojans managed to get the bases loaded in

two outs in the inning. He walked the first batter,
pinch hitter Garret Houts, but then got Joe De Pinto
swinging for his second save of the season.
The ninth-inning effort by Sitton saved Gaviglio’s
outing, as the right-hander went 5 1/3 innings for
his first win of the season. He allowed two runs and
four hits while striking out four. He was replaced in
the sixth by Matt Boyd, who came in and worked
three innings of relief. He allowed two hits and a

Peavey dueled UCLA’s Gerrit Cole, both of

Romero’s home run put the game at a 2-2 tie
in the sixth, as it went over the left field fence on
a 2-0 pitch from UCLA starter Rob Rasmussen.
However, Rasmussen, who was able to get the
win after going seven full innings, shut the Beavers
down until the top half of the seventh when Tyler
Rahmatulla hit a solo homer to right that served as
the game-winner.
UCLA scored five times in the ninth to secure
the victory.
Rasmussen improved to 5-0, while Erik Goeddel
got the save after working two innings. It was his
first save of the year.
Sam Gaviglio made his second start of the season for Oregon State, going 4 2/3 innings. He
scattered six hits and two runs while striking out a
season-best seven. He did not get a decision.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Adalberto Santos and Danny Hayes both hit home runs but the 18th-ranked
Oregon State baseball team lost the series finale
to Stanford, 10-7, Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium.
Santos and Hayes hit their home runs in the seventh and ninth innings, respectively, as the Beavers
scored six runs over the final four innings, but it was
too little to overcome Stanford’s early lead.
The Cardinal scored three runs in the second
and six in the third for a 9-1 lead after the Beavers
opened the game with a solo run in the first.
The nine runs came off Oregon State starter
Sam Gaviglio, who, in making his third start of the
season, lasted 2 2/3 innings before being replaced
by Matt Boyd. Gaviglio allowed eight hits while
walking two to fall to 1-1 on the year.

season and Rob Folsom doubled twice, but the
Beavers found themselves down 11-1 after three
innings and could not overcome the early deficit.
Oregon State starter Tanner Robles was chased
after 3 2/3 innings and took the loss to drop to 4-4
on the year. He allowed nine hits and 11 runs while
striking out three. He was relieved by Ryan Gorton
in the fourth.
The Cougars chased Robles during their eightrun fourth. WSU had eight hits during the frame,
and sent 11 batters to the plate. Matt Fanelli led off
the inning with a solo home run and the Cougars
scored five of their eight runs with two outs.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon State baseball
team dropped a 9-4 decision to No. 17 Oregon in
a non-conference game Tuesday at PK Park.
Andrew Susac supplied Oregon State with its
main highlight offensively, hitting the first pitch he
saw from Oregon reliever Madison Boer over the
left-center fence. It was his first career long ball.
All told, the Beavers rapped out 10 hits to 11
for Oregon, with Stefen Romero pacing the club
with three – including two doubles - and Adalberto
Santos totaling two to extend his hit streak to six
games.
The teams combined for 10 extra base hits.
Oregon scored its first run of the game in the
third when Marcus Piazzisi tripled to right center,
scoring KC Serna. Piazzisi scored on the play when
the Beavers were not granted an apparent timeout,
making the score 2-0.

runs in the fourth. Jack Marder singled home the
first run of the inning and Piazzisi capped off the
inning with his second triple of the game.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Adalberto Santos doubled
twice but the Oregon State baseball team lost the
series opener to Washington State, 5-1.
Santos doubled to right center to start the game,
then doubled home a run in the fifth to earn his
eighth multiple-hit effort of the season.
Washington State got on the board in the third,
pushing ahead for a 3-0 lead. The Cougars scored
first when Cody Bartlett came in from second on a
throwing error. Kyle Johnson, who reached on the
throwing error on a sacrifice bunt attempt, scored
two batters later when Shea Vucinich grounded out
to short.
Derek Jones made it 3-0 when he homered over
the left center fence.
OSU scored a solo run in the fifth to get on the
board. Michael Miller reached on an infield single,
moved to second on a bunt by Keith Jennette bunt
and found himself at third after a wild pitch. Santos
drove in Miller with a chopper over the third-base
bag that went for two bases.
The Cougars, however, scored two more in the
seventh to give themselves a four-run lead.
PULLMAN, Wash. – Sam Gaviglio allowed one
run over 6 2/3 innings and the Oregon State baseball team snapped a seven-game losing streak with
a 3-2 victory over Washington State Sunday in the
three-game series finale at Bailey-Brayton Field.
The 6 2/3 innings marked a season-long for
Gaviglio, who made his fourth start of the season
and his ninth appearance. He worked the final 5
2/3 innings without allowing a run, and kept Washington State to just five hits and a walk. He struck
out three.
Gaviglio threw 101 pitches, 64 of which were
strikes. He forced Washington State to strand eight
runners, including a bases loaded situation in the
fourth. He was relieved by Kraig Sitton in the seventh and the lefty got the final out of the seventh
on one pitch.
Gaviglio picked up the win to improve to 2-1 this
season and 12-2 in two seasons at Oregon State.

BERKELEY, Calif. - Carter Bell finished with
three hits for the fourth time this season, but the
Oregon State baseball team lost its series opener
at No. 23 California, 11-3, Friday afternoon at Evans Diamond.
Bell went 3-for-4 Friday, finishing with his seventh multiple-hit game of the season. He singled in
the third, sixth and ninth innings, becoming one of
three Beavers to record an RBI - the others were
Danny Hayes and Michael Miller - doing so in the
sixth.
Hayes’ came on a check swing single in the fifth
that got the Beavers on the board. Bell’s, meanwhile, came on a lined single to left.
Miller finished OSU’s (21-15 overall, 4-9 Pacific-10 Conference) scoring tally with a single up the
middle in the ninth, scoring Bell from second.
All told the Beavers finished with 12 hits off California pitchers Erik Johnson, Kevin Miller and Daniel
Wolford, but it wasn’t enough to deter a California
offense that tallied 14 hits.

BERKELEY, Calif. – Tyler Smith doubled twice
and the Oregon State baseball team held two early
leads but the Beavers lost to No. 23 California, 144, Saturday afternoon at Evans Diamond.
Andrew Susac also had two hits for the Beavers,
who dropped their third consecutive game to fall to
21-16 overall this season and 4-10 in Pacific-10
Conference play.
Smith doubled twice, doing so in the second and
fourth innings. His second double gave OSU a 3-0
lead, but one that was relinquished in the bottom
half of the fourth.
Smith also singled in the ninth as he went 3-for-4
on the afternoon and is 4-for-5 through the first two
games of the series.
California scored the game’s last 11 runs, posting four in the sixth inning and six in the seventh
inning after tying the game with a run in the fifth.
The Golden Bears’ game-winning run came in
the sixth when Marcus Semien singled up the middle, scoring Chad Bunting from second.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Kevin Rhoderick worked
2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief and the Oregon
State baseball team scored the game-winning run
on an Oregon throwing error in the 10th for a 2-1
victory over the Ducks in front of 2,774 Friday night
at Goss Stadium.
Andrew Susac and Carter Bell reached on consecutive hit by pitches to start the 10th. Brent
Warren pinch ran for Susac, then scored when Oregon’s KC Serna attempted to get Michael Miller at
first on an attempted double play. The ball got past
Oregon pitcher Scott McGough, enabling Warren
to score from second.
Rhoderick was the third of three Oregon State
pitchers and he improved to 2-1 this season after
striking out five in 2 1/3 innings. He allowed two
hits in the eighth when he came in to relieve Kraig
Sitton, but settled down, allowing just a walk the
rest of the way.
Greg Peavey started for the Beavers and went 7
1/3 innings, but did not get the decision. He scattered five hits and a run while striking out four in his
sixth quality start of the season.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Rob Folsom stroked a oneout double to center in the bottom of the ninth Sunday, driving in Stefen Romero from second to give
the Oregon State baseball team a series sweep of
No. 15 Oregon with a 6-5 victory in front of 2,823
at Goss Stadium.
Folsom’s shot went over the head of Oregon
center fielder Jett Hart, enabling the Beavers to
overcome Oregon’s four-run ninth that tied the
game after the Beavers had jumped out to a 5-1
lead.
Romero singled to right with Dylan Jones on first
to put runners on first and second with no outs in
the ninth. Jones was then forced at third on an attempted sacrifice bunt by Andy Quiring. That mattered little, however, as Folsom came on and hit his
game-winning double on a 1-0 pitch from Oregon
reliever Drew Gagnier.
Sam Gaviglio went 8 2/3 innings, and limited Oregon to a run and five hits through eight full innings.
But he struggled in the ninth, allowing the Ducks to
tie the score on their fifth hit of the inning.

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Joey Housey uncorked a
wild pitch with two outs in the 11th, enabling Ryan
Barnes to score from third and give the Oregon
State baseball team a 4-3 victory over No. 15 Oregon Saturday in front a season-best 3,059 fans at
Goss Stadium.
Andrew Susac opened the 11th with a single,
and was immediately pinch run for by Barnes. He
moved to second on a single by Rob Folsom, then
went to third when Tyler Smith reached on a throwing error by Housey, who had come in prior to the
at bat for Alex Keudell.
Carter Bell then struck out swinging, but it did
not matter as Housey’s wild pitch on the first pitch
to Adalberto Santos. That gave OSU the win and
sent Keudell to the loss, which dropped him to 4-5
on the year.
The win went to Matt Boyd, who threw two full
innings of relief. He allowed a hit and a walk but
stranded Oregon runners in both the 10th and 11th
innings to improve to 5-1 this season.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Stefen Romero hit his third
home run in four games but the Oregon State baseball team lost to No. 19 San Diego. 4-1, Monday
night in a non-conference game at Goss Stadium.
Kraig Sitton scattered five hits and two runs in 5
2/3 innings in his first career start. But the Beavers
managed only Romero’s 12th home run of the season in the loss.
Sitton took the loss to drop to 1-2 on the year.
After allowing a run on a Tony Strazzara single in
the first, he settled down to retire 16 straight. However, the lefty allowed another run in the sixth, again
on a Strazzara single, to give the Toreros the lead
for good.
Strazzara again drove home a single in San Diego’s two-run eighth, and the Toreros scored their
final run on an Oregon State double play.
Romero’s home run came in the fourth and was
his 12th of the year, which put him just one shy of
tying for the Pacific-10 Conference lead, held by
USC’s Ricky Oropesa.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Stefen Romero and Jared
Norris each hit home runs and Kevin Rhoderick got
out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth as the Oregon
State baseball team defeated Washington, 8-6, in
Friday night’s series-opener at Goss Stadium.
Rhoderick hit two batters and walked another to
load the bases with the OSU lead on the line in the
ninth. But the closer induced Doug Cherry into a
comebacker with two outs, preserving the Beavers’
two-run victory.
The win pushed the Beavers into a tie for eighth
place with Washington, as the teams are 6 ½
games behind Pac-10 leading Arizona State.
Romero homered to left center in the third, giving
the Beavers a 3-0 lead after Tyler Smith drove in
the game’s first run on a sacrifice fly earlier in the inning. It was Romero’s 13th home run of the season
and his fourth in the last five games.
Washington answered with two runs in the
fourth, then saw OSU get two more on a triple to
center by Adalberto Santos, who went 4-for-5 on
the night, driving in two runs in the process.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Andrew Susac doubled to
give Oregon State an early lead but the Beavers
could not hold on and lost to Washington, 3-2,
Sunday in the series finale at Goss Stadium.
Washington scored the go ahead run in the
eighth when Jacob Lamb walked on a 3-1 pitch
from Oregon State reliever Kraig Sitton. It forced
in Eric Peterson, who had been hit by a pitch from
OSU starter Sam Gaviglio to start the inning.
Sitton had come in for Gaviglio with one out in
the inning and proceeded to walk three straight.
The loss went to Gaviglio, who fell to 2-3 on the
year after going 7 2/3 innings, scattering five hits,
three runs and a walk while striking out three.
Jacob Clem, the second of two Washington
pitchers, went eight innings in relief of starter Brandon Rohde. Clem picked up the win to improved to
4-3. He allowed two runs, six hits and a walk while
striking out three.
Susac started off the game’s scoring with a double to left. It scored Jared Norris from first and Rob
Folsom from third, giving the Beavers the quick 2-0
lead.
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Oregon State baseball team
dropped a 10-4 decision to third-ranked Arizona
State Friday night to start its three-game series at
Packard Stadium.
Matt Boyd hit Oregon State’s first pinch hit home
run since Chris Hopkins in 2008, but the momentum it delivered in the seventh was countered by
the Sun Devils in OSU’s loss.
Boyd took a 1-1 pitch from ASU starter Seth Blair
and hit it over the right field fence for a three-run
shot and his third home run of the season. It pulled
the Beavers to within two, 6-4, but OSU failed to
get closer throughout the rest of the game.
It was an uncharacteristically offensive night for
a Friday contest featuring two pitchers with earned
run averages less than 4.00. However, the Beavers
and Sun Devils raked out a good offensive night,
with both teams posting multiple extra-base hits.
All told, the Sun Devils finished with 14 hits. Of
those 14, seven went for extra bases.

the Huskies, 7-3, Saturday at Goss Stadium.
The Beavers earned the series win after pounding eight hits and seven runs in 3 1/3 innings off
Washington starter Andrew Kittredge. Folsom’s

the Beavers up 4-0.
It was Folsom’s second home run of the season
and his first since March 20.
OSU opened the game’s scoring with two runs in
the first when Tyler Smith doubled to left. After Folsom put the Beavers up 4-0, Oregon State scored
its final three runs of the game in the fourth.
Adalberto Santos doubled to right center, scoring Carter Bell and Tyler Smith. Dylan Jones doubled to right immediately after Santos, putting OSU
at a 7-0 advantage.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Adalberto Santos and Travis Anderson each hit first-inning home runs and
the Oregon State baseball team rolled to a 12-2
victory over Seattle Tuesday in a non-conference
game at Goss Stadium.
All told, OSU tallied 15 hits off four Seattle pitchers. Santos led the Beavers with three hits in four
at bats as the centerfielder extended his hit streak
to seven games.

its opponent this season.
Santos led off the first with a home run on the
first pitch he saw, and was followed three batters

TEMPE, Ariz. – Oregon State rallied, putting a
runner at second base in the ninth, but could not
get a run across and was edged by No. 3 Arizona
State, 6-5, in front of 4,123 fans at Packard Stadium.
Arizona State scored the game-winning run in
the eighth on a single through the left side by Raoul
Torrez. It came off OSU reliever Kevin Rhoderick.
Torrez’ game-winning single was necessitated
after the Beavers score three runs in the top half of
the eighth to overcome a 5-2 deficit. Adalberto Santos hit a two-run home run to right, then watched
as Andy Quiring tied the game with a pinch hit
home run over the left field fence off ASU’s Mitchell
Lambson.
OSU put runners at first and second in the ninth
after Tyler Smith reached on a fielder’s choice and
Brent Warren singled up the middle. But Santos
flew out to the right field warning track against ASU
closer Jordan Swagerty.

TEMPE, Ariz. – Freshman Andrew Susac had hit
his first career three-hit game against No. 3 Arizona
State Sunday, but it was his final hit that meant the
most to the Oregon State baseball team.
Susac’s two-run single in the seventh capped off
a four-run inning for the Beavers and sent them to
a 9-8 victory over the Sun Devils in front of 2,914
fans at Packard Stadium.
Oregon State held off two runs from Arizona
State in the seventh and Kraig Sitton picked up
the save after Arizona State got a runner to second
with two outs in the ninth. The win sent the Beavers
to a series finale victory.
Susac’s two-run single through the left side
capped off the inning, which saw OSU send nine
batters to the plate and score four runs. Jared Norris also singled in a run and Tyler Smith doubled
down the left field line that brought in Keith Jennette, tying the game at the time, 6-6.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Adalberto Santos hit two
home runs and Greg Peavey threw his seventh
quality start of the season as the Oregon State
baseball team defeated Arizona, 6-3, to open the
three-game series at Goss Stadium.
Santos hit two-run home runs in the third and
fifth innings to pace the Beavers to their ninth victory in their past 13 victories. Santos extended his
hit streak to 12 games.
Santos’ offensive output helped pace the eighthit attack for the Beavers, with Dylan Jones and
Danny Hayes finishing with two hits apiece. Hayes
accounted for Oregon State’s two other runs with
a two-run double in the first.
That offensive attack backed up a strong outing
from Peavey, who went 7 2/3 innings to improve to
5-3 this season. He scattered seven hits and three
runs while striking out three.
The right-hander allowed a solo run in the second and two in the fifth but spun two ground balls
that resulted in double plays.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Steve Selsky’s sixth-inning
home run proved to be the game winner as the
Oregon State baseball team concluded its regular
season with a 3-1 loss to Arizona Sunday in front of
2,823 fans at Goss Stadium.
Selsky’s home run was a two-run shot in the sixth
that broke a 1-1 deadlock. It came off OSU reliever
Tyler Waldron, who ended the weekend with 6 1/3
innings of work against Arizona, where he allowed
just two hits and two runs with 10 strikeouts.
Both hits and runs, however, came in Sunday’s
finale and sent Waldron to 4-5 this season.
Arizona opened the game with a run-scoring
single in the first off the bat by Jett Bandy that gave
the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead. The Beavers then
scored their only run of the game in the third when
Tyler Smith came in on a passed ball.
That run was charged to Vincent Littleman, who
worked 2 2/3 innings in a start. Nick Cunningham
finished with the win after going 3 1/3 innings, limiting the Beavers to four hits and two walks while
allowing no runs and striking out four.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Stefen Romero’s run-scoring single in the fifth proved to be the game winner
as the Oregon State baseball team closed out its
regular season non-conference schedule with a
2-1 victory over No. 21 Oregon in front of 8,487
fans at PGE Park Wednesday night.
Romero drove in Jared Norris, who started off the
inning with a walk and then moved to second on a
wild pitch. The run came off Oregon reliever Christian Jones, who gave up both of OSU’s runs in 1
1/3 innings of relief.
The Oregon State pitching staff was able to hold
Oregon to just one run and four hits on the night.
Oregon State used five relievers, with Tony Bryant
making his first career start.
Matt Boyd, the second pitcher of the night for
Oregon State, worked four innings in his fourth
appearance against Oregon this season, and scattered three hits and a run while striking out one.
Boyd improved to 7-1 this season – 3-0 against
Oregon – while Jones dropped to 2-2.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – There was a pitcher’s duel
for most of Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium.
Sam Gaviglio won it.
Gaviglio struck out 13 and scattered five hits
over 7 2/3 innings as the Oregon State baseball
team defeated Arizona, 5-0, in front of 2,846 fans
at Goss Stadium. The win gave Oregon State a series victory over the Wildcats and the Beavers will
go for the sweep Sunday at 12 p.m. in the regular
season finale.
The game only got out of hand in the eighth after
the Beavers scored three unearned runs. For most
of the game, Gaviglio and Arizona starter Kyle Simon kept hitters off balance.
Through the first seven innings, OSU managed
only a 2-0 lead; Dylan Jones drove in Carter Bell
after OSU’s third baseman reached on an error in
the third and Andrew Susac hit his second home
run of the season in the fourth.
Gaviglio took it from there.
