ANNOUNCING A NEW UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAM A DUAL BS DEGREE IN INTERNATIONAL COMPUTER SCIENCE (ICS) WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES AT ULM, GERMANY The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is pleased to announce the launch of a dual BS-degree program in International Computer Science with the University of Applied Sciences at Hochschule Ulm, Germany. This four-year program leads to two BS degrees – one from Rose-Hulman and one from Hochschule Ulm. Students at Rose-Hulman will spend their first two years of study on the Rose-Hulman campus. For their third year, the students will be in Ulm, Germany, meeting their peers from Ulm and taking classes together (in English) as a cohort. For their fourth year, both the Rose-Hulman and the Ulm students will be on the Rose-Hulman campus. For Rose-Hulman students, the ICS curriculum is the same as the regular CS curriculum with a few “tweaks”: • • • • Students are required to take GE 111, GE 112, and GE 113 (German I, II, III); these count as three of the seven required HSS electives. Students must do Senior Thesis (CSSE 494-495-496) as their capstone experience. Students need to have an internship during the summer after their sophomore year. Suggested terms in which some courses are taken are different (see next page). Rising sophomores for the 2014-2015 year may switch into ICS as long as they have already taken German or sign up for German I in the fall. For more information please contact Dr. Cary Laxer, head of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, via e-mail (laxer@rosehulman.edu) or phone (812-877-8429).
