Meeting Minutes September 26th, 2013 I. Set Meeting Dates a. We will meet the first Thursday of the month b. Meeting dates will be held at 11:00 on October 3rd, November 7th, December 5th II. By-laws-Newest is from the 90’s a. Bruce Gottschall will look over the bylaws. Jerry has retyped these into WORD (they were typewritten). So he will supply these to Bruce. (anyone else want to help?) III. Budget a. Budget was cut to $1500 dollars b. We have approximately $190.42 carry over (corrected post meeting. Incorrect amount of $58 was stated in meeting) c. Last year we had funding from diversity funding ($1500) which was carry over from an old fund (non-CHD)-this is not available this year d. ACE and Foundation Grant were awarded last year e. Do we continue to try to co-sponsor other events or keep focused on the conference? f. The two events that we will continue to co-sponsor “Social Justice: When Diversity Isn’t Enough” (Jessica Pettit) on Wednesday, October 16th & Dan Savage March 11th, 7pm Schaffer ($250 each) g. Please ask that the Commission on Human Diversity is listed as a co-sponsor. IV. Conference: March 7th, 2014 The conference is meant to facilitate discussion, new ideas, and education about current issues in the GLBTQA Community. This conference is for allies, those who identify as GLBTQ,A and those who wish to be more informed and gain an appreciation for the GLBTQA community and current issues. Possible topics include bullying, acceptance, marriage, transgender, Out in Sports, Out in the Workplace, Personal Identity, the Intersection of Identities, and more.” a. Theme Ideas: i. Let’s Talk: GLBTQA Issues Today ii. Over the Rainbow: Pride and Prejudice-remove over the rainbow iii. Pride and Prejudice: GLBTQA Issues Today iv. Our Modern Family: GLBTQA Issues Today v. 50 Shades of the Rainbow? vi. Queer in the Common World vii. Using the word Queer (discussion of comfort with this word east coat vs. west coast) viii.
