Please seek assistance by April 30, 2016 for these matters. To receive financial aid for summer classes: A 2015-2016 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Summer 2016 Edinboro University Financial Aid Application should be on file in the Financial Aid Office (FAO) before June 1, 2016. Submitting an application after this date does not guarantee sufficient time for the FAO to receive the results for summer aid consideration. Your FAFSA may also be selected for a process called “verification” which could delay payment. Verification requires the submission of 2014 Federal Income Tax Returns and a Verification Worksheet. You must be admitted to a degree-granting program at Edinboro Edinboro students enrolling at other institutions for 6 credits or more must complete a consortium agreement to be sent from our FAO to the host school. Students from other institutions who register for summer classes at Edinboro are not eligible to receive financial aid from Edinboro. Visiting students should contact the Financial Aid Office at their home school. Students admitted as “special students” (non-degree seeking) are NOT eligible for any financial aid. Check your eligibility and awards by logging on to my.edinboro.edu , select S.C.O.T.S., and then Financial Aid. It is your responsibility to be sure that all required documents have been submitted and that all financial aid funds are applied to your account by August 10, 2016. The minimum summer enrollment status required to receive a Direct Stafford Loan, Direct Parent/Grad PLUS loan, Federal Pell Grant (undergraduate) or Pennsylvania State Grant (undergraduate) is 6 credits for undergraduates and 3 graduate credits for graduate students. You must also maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to receive federal or state funds for summer school. Graduate students taking all undergraduate classes will be treated as undergraduate students and must be in at least 6 credits. Changes to your schedule may change your eligibility resulting in adjustments to your account after funds have been posted. Direct Stafford Loan recipients: First time borrowers must complete Entrance Counseling and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) before loan monies will be available to post to your University account. Please go to www.studentloans.gov to complete these requirements. Summer 2016 Pennsylvania State Grant Applications will be available in Mid-March. Applications can only be completed on-line at www.pheaa.org/summer grant. The deadline for applying for a Summer 2016 Pennsylvania State Grant is August 15. Awards are not made until late June and cannot be used as a deferment on billing until the amounts are confirmed. Awards are paid in early August. You must be enrolled at least half-time (defined as at least six credits per semester, or the equivalent). You must also be enrolled in a minimum of 8 weeks of study; sessions can be combined to meet the eight week requirement. If 50% or more of enrollment is online courses, you may not be eligible for funding. Payment of most financial aid is made directly to your Edinboro account. Financial aid in excess of your university bill is refunded to you by the Bursar’s Office. The earliest date for summer financial aid refunds is estimated to be June 14, 2016, although not all refunds will be available on that date. Financial Aid will not be disbursed until you start minimum enrollment for financial aid eligibility. Your summer enrollment must be finalized by June 1, 2016. Changes to your schedule may change your eligibility resulting in adjustments to your account after funds have been posted. This includes courses that may be cancelled by Records & Registration.
