A CHECKLIST FOR YOUR ROOM
A CHECKLIST FOR THE BATH
• Bedding for an extra long twin bed
• CFL light bulbs
• Linens, pillow, blanket, bedspread
• Touch-tone phone* (Note: cordless phones cause a multitude of
problems)
o Please note: long distance service is not available from student
rooms.
• Memo board for your door *
• Fan
• Wastebasket
• Hangers
• Alarm clock
• Computer
• Power strip
• Thermostatically controlled hot pot*
• Auto-shutoff coffee maker*
• Refrigerator* (it may not exceed 3.2 cubic feet and 1.4 amps) or
MicroFridge (one per room)
• Floor and desk lights (no halogens) – overhead lighting is not
provided in University Place
• Stationary supplies (pens, pencils, paper, envelopes and stamps,
tape, stapler, paper clips, calculator, etc.)
• Sewing kit
• Flash light
• Light housekeeping items (dust cloth, sponge, hand-vacuum*, etc)
• Plants and small decorative items
• Rug and curtains if desired- all windows have blinds*
• Towels and washcloths
• Soap and soap dish
• Toiletries and a tote (for carrying items to the shower).
• Residents must provide their own toilet paper
• Personal appliances such as a hairdryer, curling iron
• Shower shoes/ flip-flops

• Laundry basket or bag
• Detergent, bleach, softener, etc.
• Lots of quarters for the washer and dryers
• Auto shut-off iron (may be used only in the laundry/ironing room)

ITEMS NOT PERMITTED
• NO Microwave oven (unless you rent a MicroFridge)
• NO Toaster Oven, toaster, or griddle
• NO Grills (indoor/outdoor/ George Foreman type)
• NO Hot plate
• NO Heating coil
• NO Immersion coil
• NO Electric frying pan
• NO Halogen Lamps, light bulbs, neon or string lights
• NO Air conditioner*
• NO Space heater
• NO Animals (other than “toothless” fish)
• NO Water bed
• NO Candles/ incense
• NO Alcohol Bottles (not even for decoration)
• NO Bed risers or lifts
• NO Reed Diffusers
Due to fire safety regulations, cooking must be confined to the kitchen in your residence hall. The only appliances that may be housed or
used in your room for food preparation are a thermostatically controlled hot pot, thermostatically controlled popcorn popper, auto shut-off
coffee maker and a MicroFridge (one per room). With this in mind, please do add the following to your checklist!
