Maximize Your Potential
The Honors program provides highly motivated students
with flexible options for making the most of the rich
educational experiences offered at St. Louis Community
College. Through selected Honors courses, individualized
projects and assignments, and special advising
opportunities, students are encouraged to explore their
academic interests and expand their intellectual horizons.
Stand Out from the Crowd
Honors scholars are recognized for what they are:
engaged, driven and successful students. Both future
employers – as well as four-year institutions – value the
added rigor of an Honors program. Not only will your
resume or application stand out, but your Honors status
may make you eligible for STLCC scholarships and
awards as well as lucrative transfer scholarships.
Become an Honors Student
Enrollment in the Honors program is open to returning
students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
(with 12 credit hours in 100-level classes). Returning
students may participate in the program on a limited,
probationary basis in consultation with their campus
Honors coordinator if they do not meet this eligibility
requirement. New students may choose to submit ACT/
SAT scores, placement scores or high school transcripts to
qualify for the program. Alternative evidence of eligibility
may be considered as well.
Choose from Flexible Options
to Meet Your Needs
Each STLCC campus offers a unique array of
opportunities to earn Honors credit. Depending on
the campus, you may choose:
•Honors Courses: Honors sections of standard courses
offer a more challenging curriculum with smaller class
sizes, allowing you to learn alongside students with
similar aspirations while enjoying significant interaction
with instructors. Honors courses vary by campus and
semester.
•In-Course Honors Contracts: Honors students are
encouraged to pursue independent projects beyond
regular course requirements in standard classes, which
might include additional speeches, presentations, fiction
writing, multimedia work, or research, among many
other possibilities. This option provides an opportunity
for in-depth study of specific areas of interest. Honors
contracts are developed and implemented with the
approval of the course instructor.
A Community for You
From social activities to facilitated discussions, guest
presentations, university transfer events, and an annual
Honors symposium, Honors students enjoy extra
opportunities for engagement and support.
