Distinguished Alumni ROY CANTRELL Dr. Roy Cantrell received his Bachelor of Science degree in Crop Science in 1976. He went on to receive a Master of Science and PhD. from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1978 and 1980. Dr. Cantrell currently serves as Vice President for Agricultural Research for Cotton Incorporated in Cary, North Carolina. Dr. Cantrell has been honored with many awards including New Mexico State University Distinguished Research Award, Cotton Genetics Award and was named an American Society of Agronomy Fellow. Dr. Cantrell has provided thousands of hours of dedicated service to his professional societies, his crop committees, and the institutions where he has worked. BOB RILEY Mr. Bob Riley received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in 1977. He also received an Associate in Applied Science degree in Surveying Technology from Tarrant County Junior College in 1988. Mr. Riley has served as the Development Director for the City of Fort Worth since 2000. He is responsible for the management and administration of the City’s development services activities. Prior to his current position he served as Assistant Director of Park Planning and Resource Management for the City of Fort Worth. Mr. Riley is a Board Member for The Boy Scouts Longhorn Council Executive Board and the Fort Worth Credit Union. BOB ROBINSON Dr. Robert Robinson received his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Animal Science in 1989. He also received his Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas State University in 1970 and a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M in 1975. Dr. Robinson serves as Regional Program Director for Agriculture and Natural Resources—North Region, Texas Cooperative Extension for Texas A&M University System. He also holds the title of Professor in Animal Sciences at West Texas A&M University. Dr. Robinson has received numerous awards including the Advanced Degree Graduate of Distinction in 2005 by the Department of Animal and Food Sciences, the Texas Pork Producer’s Order of the Golden Pig in 2005 and the Texas Cooperative Extension Superior Service Award for Distinguished Career in 2005 to name a few. PAMELA COOK SIRMON Judge Pamela Sirmon received her Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Communications in 1983 she also received a Masters degree in Communications in 1985. She went on to receive a Juris Doctor in 1989. Judge Sirmon has presided as judge of Potter County Court at Law No. 2 in Amarillo since 1998. Her first job after law school graduation was an assistant county attorney for the Potter County Attorney’s Office. She later opened a private law practice prior to being elected as judge. Judge Sirmon is actively involved in PTA, 4-H, the Amarillo Executive Network, the Board of the High Plains Food Bank and a local Walk to Emmaus group. landmarks 2006 36 CRAIG SMITH Mr. Craig Smith received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in 1965. He served as President of Hereford State Bank and has since retired. Mr. Smith also served as Chairman of the Board for Hereford State Bank. Prior to this he served as National Bank Examiner. Currently he still serves on the Board at Hereford State Bank and enjoys farming and ranching. He co-owns operations in eastern and northeastern New Mexico as a partner with his brother as well as partnering on wheat pasture cattle and feeding cattle in commercial feed yards. ROBERT E. WHITSON Dr. Robert Whitson received his Bachelor of Science degree in Range Management in 1965. He went on to receive his Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in 1967. He also received a PhD. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University in 1974. Dr. Whitson has served as Vice President, Dean and Director for the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Oklahoma State University since May of 2005. Prior to this he served as Associate Vice Chancellor and Associate Dean for Agriculture and Life Sciences and Deputy Director of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station at Texas A&M University.
