Title: Outboard electric propulsion equipment
The project proposed by Innovanautic involves several technical disciplines and important product oriented skills to get
a good product base to be industrialised near to commercialization.
Some of these technical disciplines match with engineering branch that the students could be choose for their training,
other ones are not so clear involved on their previous training and will requires some coordination and product oriented
thinking.
The project that Innovanautic proposes to the program is the design of a outboard propulsion system for boats based
on the innovanautic converter technology and concept, that integrates Industrial standard systems to achieve a
professional use grade compact system.

Introduction: The project include several techniques, and specialities, like:
Mechanical engineering: CFD analysis, FE (finite elements) analysis, mechanical design and design of pieces.
Electrical engineering: Dimensioning cable and protections, motor selection and performance, schematics and
assembly.
Electronic engineering: PCB design, communication protocol, microprocessor programming and electronic
development
Automation engineering: Programming of PLCs and VFC (variable frequency converters, web server on PLC, selection
and integration of human interface components, safety of the system
The main problem to solve is to design a new product with all the safety characteristic, that allow to start the
industrialization and industrial design works, to become a commercial product.
Project Brief: The main objective is to get the first prototype of the system with complete information about
schematics, possible configuration relatives to the final user, supplier lists, bom list for the PCB, programming code of
the main components and microprocessors, and other relevant components and documents, including a test report of
the system installed in a real boat.
