New Online Course Development Proposal Form (FY15)

Description:
Western Illinois University will fund the development of new online courses. Typical
funding will provide $5,000 per course using a team approach with the assistance of
the Center for the Application of Information Technology (CAIT) and the Center for
Innovation in Teaching and Research (CITR). Two course development timeframes will
be offered: Fall 2014 Semester and Spring 2015 Semester. Depending on the
semester, course development work must be completed and approved by January 31,
2015 and May 31, 2015 respectively to receive payment.

Description
Disseminate proposal form and respond to
questions by faculty prior to submission.
Collect course proposals.

Select and announce the courses (approved by
Selection Committee and Dr. Hawkinson) to be
developed. Notify applicants.
October 1–15, 2014
Faculty completes CITR’s Best Practice in
Teaching Online training if needed (dates
tentative).
Sept. 3 – October 14, 2014
Faculty meet with CAIT to determine scope and
timelines for course development.
October 15 – 31, 2014
Design and develop online courses
(faculty/CAIT).
November 1, 2014 – May 31,
2015
Complete course hand-off meetings, checklist of
standards is approved and signed off on.
June 1 – June 30, 2015
Faculty payment is approved and processed
(must be prior to June 30, 2015).
Upon completion and sign off
of developed course.
