CallNumber We understand and organize literature by drawing boundary lines. Boundaries between genres, canons, and methods. Boundaries between national literatures, between literary and non-literary arts, between literature and literary theory. This course will survey these boundary lines, and teach you how to trespass over and across them. We’ll rehearse essential skills of critical reading and writing, familiarize ourselves with basic theoretical schools and practices, and read texts (drawn broadly across national/generic/periodic divides) which explore the social and political risks and rewards of trespassing itself. 31517 Introduction to Critical Writing Introductory Trespassing: Literature and Critical Analysis MWF 12-12:50PM Course Website: http://engl2391.tumblr.com/ Matt Hooley matt.hooley@ttu.edu English/Philosophy 312B English 2391.004 Prerequisite: ENGL 1301 and 1302.
