Discussion
Action Items
.
No note taker identified, attendees will be tapped on an
alpha rotation (Last name). Tom Clark is creating today’s
“summary minutes”
Marcia will be taking the minutes at the next
meeting.
A. VP Stacy noted that the class cancellation list on
class web is different from the list maintained by
her office. Discussion followed and it identified
that the class web list included older cancellations,
including some driven by scheduling changes.
B. Tom D noted that we need an accurate list to be
used in applying FTEF to spring/summer
scheduling.
Deans to work with office of instruction to
review list accuracy.
C. In a related discussion, Marcia requested that
Deans obtain accurate divisional FTEF allocations.
Dale will look back and provide FTEF grids
and send out.

4. Spring & Summer Schedule
A. Dave F: CEMC challenge for spring is, do we put all
available FTEF (approx. 20) to get to the FTES
target?
Dave F shared new sheet on current and historical
FTEF/FTES & productivity and reminded us that
districts that are over “cap growth” traditionally
have a chance at unspent statewide growth funds.
Lively discussions around productivity, student
access/success, “expected” productivity and the
new impact of program mix.
Carla initiated a discussion on the importance of
“marketing” as we roll out the spring and summer
offerings. Discussion topics included using current
students (internal marketing), social media, radio,
print, etc.
Tom Clark reminded all that increased pressure on
CEMC to solidify plans for spring/summer.
A. Tim Dave asked Deans’, “While paying attention
to data sets, how are your instincts driving your
thoughts to spend additional FTEF
(spring/summer)?
B. Tom: more in spring
C.

D. Jeanne: We could add more “college success”
classes in the spring.
Tim D: What if we do a summer with 60 FTEF?
Discussions followed and again it seemed like a
consensus was a large summer with heavy
emphasis on productivity as well as the other
CEMC criteria, (Tom again emailed CEMC course
addition criteria) .VP Stacy favors a nearly flat
spring, with a bolstered summer.
Tim D: Next steps?
1. Deans shall alert divisions at September 4th
division meeting, to gain discipline on large
summer offerings.
2. Ask disciplines to submit summer discipline
plans identifying high productivity growth
additions.
3. Deans to bring spring semester (In
discipline plan or tool format (where we
currently are) to next CEMC meeting on
September 8th, with possible additions of a
few highly productive additions. Be
prepared to defend current and added
course scheduling.
Final decision made on September 22nd.
