Chabot College Fall 2005 Removed Fall 2010 Course Outline for Welding Technology 67A WELDING SKILLS LABORATORY Catalog Description: 67A - Welding Skills Laboratory (May be repeated three times) 2 units Development and improvement of practical welding skills using SMAW, FCAW, MIG, GMAW, and GTAW. Strongly recommended: Welding Technology 64A. 6 hours laboratory. [Typical contact hours: laboratory 105] Prerequisite Skills: None Expected Outcomes for Students: Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. handle welding and shop equipment in a safe manner; identify common metals, metal alloys and their properties; demonstrate proper usage of welding power supply; correctly identify and properly use electrodes, flux-core wires and welding consumables; identify hazardous material and apply safety norms in shop environment; perform sound welding tests in flat and horizontal positions using SMAW and FCAW processes according to AWS codes; 7. properly maintain shop and welding equipment.
