STRESS MANAGEMENT AND HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY
Catalog Description:
25 – Stress Management and Health Psychology
2 Units
Analysis of the psychological factors that influence health, stress and illness, and
personal well-being. Explores coping with stress, reducing stress, emotion and illness,
pressure-cooked kids, children and stress, can’t slow down, the mind as healer, the
relaxation response, focusing mind, and maximizing performance. 2 hours.

Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to :

demonstrate knowledge of the foundation of Health Psychology and Stress
Management, including a definition and its general scope;
demonstrate awareness of research strategies used in health psychology with a
general exposure on epidemiological research and current treatment interventions;
demonstrate knowledge of psycho-psychological principles that underlie the
various concepts and its problem areas as it relates to health psychology and stress
management;
explain the interrelationship between stress and how it can be managed.
