Chabot College March 1993 Removed Fall 2006 Course Outline for German 2A INTERMEDIATE GERMAN Catalog Description: 2A - Intermediate German 4 units Review of grammar; reading of works of modern authors; practice in conversation and composition. Prerequisite: German 1B completed with grade of "C" or higher or two years of high school German. 4 hours. Expected Outcomes for Students: This course is designed to encourage greater command and study of idioms and to develop greater command of the language. The student should be able to speak and write German and should begin to understand the history and culture. Course Content: Review of grammar, stressing the nuances and intricacies at a higher level of the German language, illustrated by selections from contemporary German writing. Methods of Presentation: 1. Introduction and discussion of grammatical structures in class; oral exercises and practice after home preparation by the student 2. Reading and discussion of texts in German 3. Stimulation by instructor of individual student contributions to class discussion in the target language 4.
