SUPPLEMENTARY INSTRUCTION IN DENTAL HYGIENE
Catalog Description:
DH 500-Supplementary Instruction in Dental Hygiene
0 units
Supplemental clinical experiences in patient assessment, dental hygiene care planning, goal setting
and implementation of instrumentation techniques for providing prevention-oriented dental hygiene
care and non-surgical periodontal therapy. Corequisite: Dental Hygiene 71A, 71B, 81A or 81B.
Variable hours laboratory.

Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

a. Team approach to dental hygiene care-Write a paper evaluating your experience
working with a fellow dental hygiene student in the clinical setting
b. Evaluate the level of care provided for a client based on a review of the medical, dental
and social history and assessments
c. Complete an evaluation form for rotations to off campus facilities

Methods of Evaluating Student Progress
a. Improved dental hygiene skills as demonstrated in student’s performance in DH 71A,
71B, 81A, or 81B, including performance on final exam.
