Doug Horner (DH) distributed agenda and led project discussion. Minutes were
distributed.
Central Utility Plant
Bob Collins made a special presentation on the Central Utility Plant project.
The following points were made:
The loop trench, Phase 1, is in construction and barrier fences are up. We
continue to add signs.
Phase 1 of the loop is intended to maintain IT linkage to 1100/1200/1300 after the
demolition of buildings 400, 600 & 700.
Safety continues to be a primary focus:
Fences separate construction from pedestrians
Trucks moving through campus have 2 spotters at all times
We meet twice weekly to review safety concerns
All soils are removed from trenches with new fill going back in
It was reported by the committee that workers are being courteous.
The committee requested more signs indicating what was going on, i.e. “your
dollars at work”
Signs are underway
Campus Safety requested additional Lighting between 800/900
Lighting has been installed
There will be some noise during these activities.

- It was noted that Parking Lot “J” needs pedestrian access before we can open it
back up. We believe that we can pull the construction fences back off of the
sidewalks sometime in December but no later than the start of second semester
Jan 22, 2008.
- Farhad continues to explore alternate parking venues
- The hardware standards were asked about. We reported that the new hardware
will be interior locking, with a key, without opening the door.
- A status of the M&O Butler building was requested. We reported that the metal
Butler building is not a DSA approved structure and as such is not allowed by law
to house students. It can be used for storage, M&O and vehicle repair.
