ADDENDUM ONE
Report from Budget Committee
Submitted by Heather Hernandez
The College Budget Committee met on October 7, 2014, to review the
Instructional Supply 2014-2015 requests from each department on campus.
Dean's and administrators forwarded their prioritized list of items and one
list was created for the Budget Committee to review. Almost all of the items
that were requested were able to be purchased from instructional supply
funds and were approved. Check with your administrator about approval and
forward the purchasing documents as soon as possible. A few items not
approved on this date and sent back to administrators for further
explanation and included software for an ESL Lab, office supplies not
requested for instruction, and lighting for the Theater. The committee met
again on October 14, but there was no quorum so no official business was
conducted. In the future be sure to provide a detailed description of the
items that you are requesting for purchase on program review forms or
requests for special funding.

ADDENDUM TWO
Report from Planning, Review and Budget Council
Submitted by Heather Hernandez
The Planning, Review and Budget Council met on October 8, 2014 and the
agenda included: a brief update on the classified prioritization process,
faculty prioritization, and planning for shared governance retreats. The
classified prioritization committee has been meeting to revise a process for
the 2015-2016 year and finalize a process for the 2016-2017. I presented a
brief update on our progress and asked the PRBC request additional
information on classified positions that are requested through the program
review process. Additional information requested includes: justification for
the position, including any relevant data/or legal mandates, funding source,
is work currently being done by other employees, to whom would this person
report, what are the consequences of not funding the position, and how will
the campus community be positively impacted by filling the position.
The faculty prioritization process is also being reviewed for possible positive
changes to their procedures for this year. The faculty senate president and
chair of the PRBC have been meeting with the VP of Academic Services and
VP of Student Services to work on these changes. There was discussion
about how the PRBC impacts the faculty hiring process and what role they
should or should not play. President Sperling also said a few words about her
vision for the process.
The PRBC is planning three shared governance planning retreats which will
focus on updating our shared governances processes, including how
committees reports to one another, the organizational chart, distinctions
between PRBC and the Senates with the goal being to produces an updated
shared governance document. All interested classified are encouraged to
attend (see Deonne Kunkel's invite via email dated 10/14/14). The first
retreat will be on October 24, the second on October 31, and the third to be
planned.
