Graphic Design/Social Media Student Assistant
The Texas Tech Alumni Association (TTAA) is seeking a student assistant to join the Marketing,
Communications and Membership Team. Selection will be competitive. The position is paid,
and class credit options are available. This is a rare opportunity to build your resume and be
integral in shaping and executing the communications strategy for an audience of more than
200,000 alumni and friends of Texas Tech University!
Tasks will include designing graphics for email, web, print and social media, sparking
conversations on TTAA’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, and
Pinterest), as well as assisting on digital/web content projects and providing general support. The
student assistant will work closely with the areas of Membership, Marketing, Merchandising,
and Special Events.
The graphic design/social media student assistant is responsible for:





Designing graphics for email marketing, web and print material for alumni
communications
Day-to-day social media content generation and management
Monitoring brand buzz and presence
Continuous evaluation of TTAA’s social media marketing efforts
Thought-leadership on how TTAA can maximize exposure through Social Media
channels
This is a hands-on, fast-paced position that requires 20 hours per week. The preferred candidate
will possess the ability to plan and execute new strategies quickly and efficiently, have a passion
for Texas Tech University, an outgoing personality, and the ability to work as a team player.
Skills Required:
Graphic design skills. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite programs, particularly Illustrator
and InDesign. Basic understanding of social media, intermediate to advanced computer skills,
excellent written communication skills, personal use of Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter. Aboveaverage copywriting and editing skills; time management and organizational skills. Willingness
to learn basic videographer and photographer skills. Commitment to a flexible work schedule to
cover after-hours events.
Skills Preferred:
HTML knowledge, experience with Dreamweaver, advanced experience in customizing social
media platforms and/or additional experience with other social media including blogs.
